Let us not forget Dairy Queen, Home Depot, and Target ran POS2009 or similar (if i remember correctly).

Even MS advises not using XP-Mode in 7 (disallow access to internet).

I get the sense that tweaking one's system to receive POS2009 updates might have some undesireable side-effects.

What do you, the reader, think?     hmm

I personally use Debian, people still use XP because it works, and it does not required to change their systems. Sometimes old software that it does not run on windows 7.is up to the end user to spend the money on new systems or pay the technicians. And sometimes new installations of windows XP are not for primary browsing Internet. I would like to support Windows XP as far as I can.

Staples used XP for POS, it has been alleged elsewhere on 'da net.  Did kmart?  I found a list that included Best Buy, etc.  Even i noted elsewhere back in February that Home Depot had been alleged to be running XP for POS.  How many months will it be until their customers regret parts of their relationship?

I'm starting to see some common threads amongst these, and other, reports.

Who would build a NEW XP machine?

Can you even find a copy for sale?

I like most would have to by a superior OS and use the "Downgrade Rights" as permitted by MS.
IE you may use a Win7 Pro license to install XP, which is legal and probably the only way to get one.

So,... no surprise that the sales are plummeting since new media is not being created. One must by a superior OS to get a license so the sale shows as that of a new OS even though XP is being installed and used.

Upon further review I see these are based on visits to member websites.
So it does seem that there is a large drop in XP machines on polled websites.
Perhaps people with XP have been reading your thread tongue.

A friend of mine asked the same question - a quick Google search indicated there were many options for purchasing a copy. Someone, somewhere is still enamored with XP.
