Topic: [REQ] Intel USB 3.0 - Windows 7 x64 - HP ProDesk 600

Hello,

Thanks for such a great site, tools and forum.

I've a problem with one of the DriverPacks. I've been trying to sort this since few days and just can't and I really need a help, please.

I have few workstations HP ProDesk 600. I've tried beta DriverPack Chipset for Win7 x64 and got 4 devices not installed.
PunBB bbcode test
1) PCI Serial Port
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3D&SUBSYS_18E7103C&REV_04
2) PCI Simple Communications Controller
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_18E7103C&REV_04
3) SM Bus Controller
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_18E7103C&REV_04
4) Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C31&SUBSYS_18E7103C&REV_04

I've updated beta DriverPack for chipset with new drivers (I really tried to do this correctly) and it kind of worked but I still got one problem. I've noticed that when I install drivers for "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" new device appears called Intel USB3.0 Root Hub and doesn't get installed.
IUSB3\ROOT_HUB30&VID_8086&PID_8C31&REV_0004&SID_18E7103C

I've checked DPINST.log and found this:
  Preinstalling 'c:\d\x64\all\c\usb\intel\4\iusb3hub.inf' ...
  INFO:   ENTER:  DriverPackagePreinstallW
INFO:   Looking for Model Section [Intel.NTAMD64.6.1]...
INFO:   No matching devices found in INF "c:\d\x64\all\c\usb\intel\4\iusb3hub.inf" on the Machine.
  INFO:   RETURN: DriverPackagePreinstallW  (0xE000020B)

If I now manually try to update driver for this device, pointing to the same folder where I have drivers for "SM Bus Controller", device gets installed and all is fine. Alternatively I can just run installation of that DriverPack again and again that device will get installed just fine.
My updated DriverPack for Chipset.

I would appreciate any help.

Kind Regards,
|Kazan|

Re: [REQ] Intel USB 3.0 - Windows 7 x64 - HP ProDesk 600

Hello & Welcome to the Forum, kazan!

Curious; what is the HWID for the Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub?

Noting that you may want to start a new topic to advertise your updated Chipset pack(s).

Re: [REQ] Intel USB 3.0 - Windows 7 x64 - HP ProDesk 600

Hi

Sorry, not sure how I could forget about this.

HWID for the Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub:
IUSB3\ROOT_HUB30&VID_8086&PID_8C31&REV_0004&SID_18E7103C

Kind regards,
|Kazan|

Edit: so my current and temp solution to my problem is doubling the line
Start "MicroSoft Driver Installer Tool Running" /wait /separate /realtime /min CMD /C DPInst.exe /c /s
in DP_Install_Tool.cmd. Not perfect but works for me. If anyone would have better solution I would really appreciate it.

Re: [REQ] Intel USB 3.0 - Windows 7 x64 - HP ProDesk 600

this was explained to you in the other thread.

it's a nested driver issue.  you can't install a secondary driver if the primary driver is not installed.

you can't install USB driver if Chipset driver is not installed first.
you can't install an agp video card driver if the AGP driver is not installed first.

Nested drivers will require a second pass and possibly a reboot and a second pass.
If chipset drivers are slip-streamed into your source this is rare.

Let us know in that thread and here how that works, he just posted it here and we are not familiar with it yet.

If it can force the install in one pass that is very cool, I think i would still reboot after though tongue.
