Topic: Win7 not recognising OLD Nvidia graphics cards

Hi, I loaded Win7 on old hardware and graphics was not recognised at all.  Win Update didn't offer anything either and when I looked it up on Nvidia site they don't support it for win 7.

But the last win vista driver they do say suits the card works properly and installs without argument.  Without the vista driver it would not wake up after the screen went to sleep and you had to crash out windows and reboot

It was a FX5700, and I had same issue on a FX5200 previously, the same vista driver works fine on both.

Re: Win7 not recognising OLD Nvidia graphics cards

You're right, the Vista 96.85 drivers should work.  But that card is so old, I don't know if it's worth supporting.

Try these out

http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers?dev=0342&sub=&whql=0&lang=0&orderby=version&dir=desc&os=&os[]=vista&os[]=vista64&os[]=win7x32&os[]=win7x64

97.34 (2006-11-21) are the latest WHQL and there are a couple 17x betas from 2008 that seem to be compatible

BTW this reminds me, I have a personal SaveHwids updated with devcon.exe v6.2.9200.16384 if anyone (maybe the original creator) is interested in grabbing it and adding it to his/her tool

Re: Win7 not recognising OLD Nvidia graphics cards

I will add these to the latest beta pack for X64. Thanks for the request/hwid.

Re: Win7 not recognising OLD Nvidia graphics cards

Thanks Guys,

by the way this FX5700 gives the same lowest scoring win experience index at 3.3 as an intel 4 series chip in a current Samsung laptop and beats an intel 965 which scraped in at 3.1...

Limits listed above of those 3 systems is the 3D business / gaming graphics, (aero interface got 3.7 on 5700).  does their scoring related to anything realistic in real use?
