Hi, All,

My hardware: Asus P5WDG2 WS PRO bios ver. 0805, RAID enabled in BIOS.

My software: BartPE build from W2K3, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209, no other storage drivers included.

On boot I get STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8081EA62, 0xF78AA858, 0xF78AA554).

If I disable RAID in BIOS, system boot OK.

Have you tried the latest Release Candidates?
I have thusfar no feedback concerning the new RC's and Win2k3.  I would appreciate your observations.

Ensure to clear your QSC cache before integration.

Enable the On chip On motherboard intel drivers in the Graphics pack B ( I think they are all in DriverPack Graphics B)
then either you or I (or anyone) could build an Intel Graphics Plugin for BartPE. This could be provided on the site as a 3rd party DriverPack but would in fact be a prebuilt Intel Graphics plugin all finished and ready to drop into BartPE plugins folder.

Is there a previous version that did work for you?

Also, what version of RAID pre-boot utility is on your machine?

The driver in the RC (mv61xx.inf) is WHQL'ed including Server2003_x86.

When you see the STOP error,
is there a _______.sys file(s) mentioned?

What of the "three-amigos" left-over-after-install non-PnP devices (admin knows)?  I wonder how those figure in to this.  Then there's MvCoInst.dll.

Now that i'm this far into this, bear in mind that your mobo battery has likely passed it's MTBF.
After noting the original configuration via camera, it's nice to load those Optimized Defaults in BIOS to reset the nvram after installing a fresh battery unplugging power (test with small CR2032-powered LED light to avoid a dud).
I've noted one side-effect of a bad CMOS battery to be onboard IDE issues, would other controllers not be sensitive to nvram corruption too?  How can a fresh battery hurt stability?  I would think, only if one failed to set the configuration properly.  Don't forget submenu configs too.

1) I yet did not try other driverpack versions.

2) Sorry for possible inaccuracy, in my case problem with Intel (not Marvell) RAID. 2 HDD's connected to Intel controller (VEN_8086&DEV_27C3). RAID utility version "5.1.2.1002 ICH7R with wRAID5".

3) No other useful info on STOP screen, other then in my first post. No .sys file(s) mentioned.

4) No other (external) storage controllers attached, only on-board.

5) CMOS battery voltage is good. I have measured it by the voltmeter - 3,17 V. There were no problems with BIOS settings. Windows work long time on this hardware without any issues.

6) If I remove driverpack and setup Bart with my (downloaded from Intel) ICH drivers version, BSOD does not appear.

7) There is 2 strings for VEN_8086&DEV_27C3 in MassStorage.inf  - is this normal?

I have tried this test pack - no luck, same stop. Have tried to reset CMOS settings via pins shortage and load setup defaults - again same stop. Also I have tried older driverpacks - again no luck:

v. 10.11 - no stop, RAID array inaccessible.
v. 11.11 - stop 0x7e

yes if this is a PnP=5 issue it's going to require a patch to get working...

one of our users posted the fix for that here some time ago... i couldn't find it last night.

We probably need to do some code
to make a device whos driver specifies that it is a PnP mode only device
and then make it work in textmode.

It requires a registry entry... (read Hive edit)
this is an issue we resolved before, i forgot how.

i sent cdob a forum e-mail and asked him to pop in, hope it did not end up in his spam folder big_smile.

I see that his RAID utility version may give a clue as to what will be successful.

Bear in mind that Voltage is not a reliable indicator of battery health.  I've seen many a coin cell that registered proper Voltage, yet had not the Current capacity sufficient to light even an LED.

Also, hardware from this era can be susceptible to "Capacitor Plague" and other phenomenon.

Ensure the hardware is properly cleaned whilst observing static-control measures.

  Also, best to test with a known-good power supply.
  You may have no idea what little "chamber of horrors" these devices can represent.
  If your P/S has an Aluminum housing, consider tossing it.  That's not fire-rated, AFIK.


I am not saying that it is simply a hardware issue, i only seek to help you rule that out.

  For instance:  I have two identical ICH5R ASUS mobo's.
        One will allow me to install to a RAID array, the other, no.
            Using the same testing platform allowed me to prove that the other had indeed a hardware issue.

Also, use a disc to test, not a USB stick.  Disconnect any and all non-essential peripherals including USB hubs, CardReaders, etc.  (from your HWID's in first post)

I have tried 1303201 - doesn't work, same stop. Have tried to boot Bart from CD, again same stop. Asus driver from http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/soc … _32bit.zip work OK.

Also I have tested another computer (mb Asus P5LD2 bios 1903 ICH7R DEV_27C3) - still same stop.

You don't understand me, this Asus driver doesn't work when included in driverpack, it work when standalone in Bart. Moreover, I tried to replace IASTOR3.SY_ the different versions - they do not work.

Was that the driverpack or the driver v5.0.0.1032 that failed on the P5LD2 with w2k3 as a base for BartPE?

1) For clarity: _all_ ICH7R drivers (including v5.0.0.1032) tested by me, always fail with 7e in Bart, if they integrated in driverpack, on both computers. At the same time, all these drivers work good as standalone (w/o driverpack) in Bart, on both computers.

2) Test pack 1303211 failed with 7e on both computers.

I assume that a W2k3 unmodified install disc, then integrated with Chipset & MassStorage DriverPacks would fail too.
It would be interesting to note which ______.sys file would be shown in the textmode partitioning screen (if at all).

Be data-safe.  Use a spare drive for testing if you decide to.  One drive set as JBOD in MatrixStorageBIOS
                                        Make certain Optical drive is not on a RAID controller.  Remove other drives & Note order/conn.
Also, does AHCI work?  That's a different HWID, yet may require the same driver for your 5.0 RAID ROM.

I note that you said that v10.11 had no STOP, yet partition inaccessible.  That should offer some clues.

  I will research to understand more.

Then it would appear that another driver could be interfering.

  There are a number of drivers that use the Vendor/Device combination of PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C3.
  They exist as I\iastor, I1\iastor, I2\iastor, I3\iastor, I6\iastor, I7\iastor, L\MegaSR.inf and MI\MegaIDE.inf

There are fewer drivers that use the HWID of PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C3&CC_0104.
  They are in the folders I, I1, I2, I3, I6 and I7.

There are no drivers in the DP that use your Subsys ID.  (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C3&SUBSYS_26041043)


What is the latest version of iaStor that works for you as standalone?

It would appear that Twist never did reply.  This does seem to have the semblance of a conflict.

I note that DP_MassStorage_wnt5-x86_1010 had v8.9.0.1023 & v9.6.0.1024 mixed in I4\

7e is a false driver or a driver conflict at Intel mass storage controller.

Can you add testing plugin? Do you use a NTFS partition?

Replicated the STOP $7E on an ASUS P5LP-PE and WinXPpro pre-partitioning for PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C3&CC_0104.
(RAID ROM utility version 5.6.2.1002)

  AHCI works well on the same board utilizing iaStor7.sys during setup.

Is this more evidence of that long-ago proposed bug in DP_BASE by candles?

skip_if_OS seems effective.

For note:  The machine i received had visibly bad caps in both the mobo & P/S (not so visibly).
  The BIOS Battery was a dud, too.  Seemingly rock solid now.  Glad i did HW before testing XP setup.

  No wonder am not balding.

Testing awaits another night though...
truely wishing i had built that UBCD4Win disc now........
