I don't know if this thread is still open or not but if not can somebody please redirect me. I too am having trouble with Nvidia nf4 drivers not working in a raid environment. I am currently working my way through all the drivers but that takes time. I am attaching my hwid from the system that is a working system in case it can help someone. I will report back when and if I have any success with the Test packs. Thanks for any and all help.

The thread isn't dead, just very few people have the patience to test all the packs and report results.
Do your HWIDs change if you switch your SATA controller to RAID mode in the bios?
We have made progress though. We know that the PNPInterface "hack" needs to be implemented somehow into DriverPacks BASE but there's no timeline for that fix yet.
For now, keep testing and reporting. Your results WILL make the DriverPacks better!

My system is a Gigabyte Ga-K8nxp-sli system board with 5 drives. Two are connected to nf4 as a raid 0( 2-160g drives), 2 are connected as Sata(1 150g and 1 1.5T drive). 1 drive is connected to the Sil3114 chip (500g) I did change the sil3114 to sata/raid disabled and lost my 500g drive. I have attached the HWID just so you can see the change. So far the testing have generated these results:

nt1 fails(will retest)
nt2 works but driver fails install for mass storage drive.
nt3 success, though it sees all drives except the Sil3114(500g)
nt4 only sees usb flash drive 1.8 g (forgot to mention I had a flash drive plugged in)
nt5 BSOD right after drivers loaded.
nt6 sees nf4 drives but no Sil3114 drive. It also has mass storage controller failure as above.

Anyways I have a way to go. Is there anything else you want me to not as I continue to test?

Keep going. Don't worry about your Sil3114 card, there's only nvidia drivers in these test packs.

Ok so after a week of restarting my machine and in 2 cases reloading it I have tested all 18 versions of these test packs.

1. Not ok. Hangs at starting windows after loading drivers.
2. Ok
3. Ok but no massstorage driver
4 Not ok. Did'nt load Nvraid driers sees my usb flash drive only
5. Not ok. BSOD after loading drivers
6. Ok. No massstorage driver
7. Not ok. Fails at 75% installing devices reboots & keeps trying.
8. Not ok. BSOD after loading drivers
9. Not ok. Sees usb drive only
10. Not ok. Fails after loading system. reboots and trys again. Fails even in safe mode
11. Not ok. BSOD after load
12. Not ok. Usb flash only
13. Not ok. Usb flash only
14. Not ok. Usb flash only
15. Not ok. Can't see array.
16. Not ok. Didn't load nvraid
17. Definitely not ok. WARNING. Sees array but selection of disks for preparation are in different arrangement. When I selected my C: drive to delete partition it deleted both C and E partitions on this array.
18. Not ok. Doesn't see array. Goes directly to repair windows.

This has been very tasking in testing these disks. In some cases I have rebuilt them and tested them twice with same results. However if there is anything else that you wish me to do please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.

Sorry, just reread your post and like a newbie I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean when you ask if it works in textmode & works in desktop? I still have all the iso files so it will not be difficult to replicate. Thanks

Ok.....self teaching is a wonderful thing. Lets see if I got this right. Text mode is when windows xp boots up to first configuring the PC and it is looking at the partitions to see what you have? In this case it is ok otherwise I would have not been able to see the raid partition that I wanted to install it in. I have 5 drives, 2 in a raid which it saw and it also saw a total of 4 disks(actual 5 counting raid) with partitions which is what I have on the nf4 array.

In the desktop I saw all the drives with their partitions on the desktop when I clicked on my computer everything that was connected with nf4 was there.

I hope I have clarified that correctly? If not please let me know. Thanks

Yes, that answers it.
A successful textmode (blue screen) setup allows you to see the drives and partitions attached to your controllers.
A successful desktop load means the installation progresses correctly with no errors and you see the drives and partitions attached to your controllers in "My Computer" once installation is complete.

Yes, interesting reads. But don't really address the problem.
It would be all too easy for us to just say "We won't support nvidia drivers until they stop distributing crap" but that wouldn't be fair for our end-users.
I'm starting to get grey hairs at my temples. I fully blame nvidia for that!

I appreciate your grit & determination. Yes, the SATA RAID controller should show up with a different PnP ID.

I had nothing but trouble (& bluescreens ) trying to get 7.x64 onto a DFI nForce 4 Ultra-D with an AMD-X2(now SLI & SATA2 RAID - thanks to adding a solder bridge on chipset & modding bios for latest RAID utility ). 7 didn't even want to install @ first (thanx to nv's lack of logo'd SATA RAID drivers, etc).

It turned out that i needed a special boot cd to even get that far. Even after solving the SATA RAID logo issue (many, many thanks to Fernando 1!), the bluescreen issue reared it's ugly head. It turned out that the issue was somehow related to the SMB driver.

My brother doesn't even realize how indebted to F1 he is, yet i'm very thankful, as i was able to save face after gifting (for his birthday) what looked, at first, like defective hw.

I SLAVED a whole day over a hot (under-the-collar) employer (actually he was rather jovial) , to be able to afford the X2 & the 20x10x7 cm cooler mister 6-heatpipe cooler! I don't want to turn this post into a bash-nv'fest (that would be TOO easy - g86 BUMPGATE).

BEWARE, incorrectly applied BIOS modifications can render your hardware INOPERATIVE! You may think you know what you are doing, yet still end up with 'dead' hardware. It NEVER hurts to ask questions (sometimes it's the answer that hurts!:rolleyes:) Is your SiI RAID card BIOS socketed? (square chip - PLCC32, or DIP32 - DualInlinePackage?) If so, who is the manufacturer of the BIOS chip & what are the numbers on it? It might make parr-for-the-course to flash a spare (only if compatible, though)

Funny thing with my SiI 680A cards, i was able to mod BASE BIOS v3.4.0 http://www.siliconimage.com/support/sea … 5&os=0
to RAID, just by changing the PnP ID's @ the EOF. Tested & verified (by me) support in RAID to 1TByte.:cool:
I just need to acquire a BluRay drive to verify compliance (as SiI indicated). It's so nice to have cards manufactured in 2002-3 with BIOS's from 2009 running them!

I have a pair of nForce 2 boards & a nforce 4 Intel Ed. that i'm willing to 'guinea-pig', yet it will have to wait until next friday(edit: postponed til May). I've been looking forward to testing the 'SoundStorm' capabilities on both (even though one doesn't officially support:rolleyes:).

Perhaps, for personal development, 'optional IDE driver registry cleaner (made by TwL)' could help avoid interference of other driver versions.

Forgive my impudence, would SATA, & PATA (IDE & RAID) v6.99 be possible for nForce4 series boards - other than Intel (see lack of supported HW for 4xx series)? http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.23.html

Fernando has an intriguing new take on updating support for older nV chipsets, including nForce 3-250 & nForce 4 AMD.
He updates the MediaShield ROM to v9.87 or even 10.0.0.35, allowing newer drivers to be utilized !!!

AHCI/RAID ROM modules for BIOS modding - already extracted (see section F.)

Beware that this can brick your board if not properly implemented!
You could request Fernando to mod one for you, just don't insult him by asking for an SLIC to be thrown in, or you may be rightfully thrown out.
