Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Here is v2.5 Final Modified from SAD2.0:

Supports now NT=5 (x86 only) and all NT=6 versions of windows (XP-Win8 including all Servers).  Given correct dirvers are included in packs.  Thanks to everyone here at driverpacks.net for all the hard work and support they provide.

:: Changelog:
:: v121126 v2.5 Modified Final
:: Addded support for Win8.
:: Added restore point creation (supports XP-Win8 & Servers).  Not avail. in silent mode.
:: Added user input on weather to restart or not.
:: Bug in not playing tone when completed....now its a vbs file.
:: Updated DPInst.exe to newest versions (2 for NT=5(2010) and 2 for NT=6(2012)) (32 and 64 bit).  2012 does not support     nt=5.  SAD 2.0 runs only the 2009 versions.  Why some were having install issues.
:: Fixed silent install failure.
:: Fixed touchpad drivers not installing correctly.  Now only installs one on mine and not three.  lol  It is correct also.
:: More efficient cleaning phase added.
:: Added Reboot option to silent switches.   Choose only one.  See /? or /H for details.
:: Fixed Log file crashing script.
:: Added option to keep Log file or delete it. Not avail. in silent mode.  Log file is kept by default.
:: Corrected layout of the timer counter to show correctly.
:: Updated "/?" or "/H" help from command prompt.
:: Minor cosmetic fixes.

I hope mr.smatepants finds this modified version satisfactory.  All bugs are worked out and all addon options work.  I am done with this now and consider it final.  Glad I got to help a little here and make new friends.  Everyone take care and have a good day.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Hi Guys thanks very much for all your hard work on SAD.

I just tried SAD 2.5 on a win vista and a win 7 machine, no errors, all devices up and running.

However a couple of strange ones I'd like to understand.

First; Instructions make no sense at all to me and aren't listed in the same post.
I could not fathom how SAD and Base can work together at all.  I have used base quite a few times to slip XP disc but nothing I tried worked, the instructions and I didn't click.

In the end its fantastically simple to install drivers, Run SAD 2.5.exe it makes a few folders with obvious names.  Download the driver packs and put Packs in the right folders and run "dp-install_tool.cmd" follow very simple yes / no questions and job done.

Only a long wait right at the end of the process when confirming if you want to keep log file or not got me worried.  Something to show its working and not crashed would have helped.

Secondly; I now have some odd names for devices show up in device manager on the one running vista.  A Toshiba Satellite A200 PSAEOE laptop

Touchpad:
toshiba synaptics driver (no ability to disable tap to click)
win update offers a later synaptics driver (no ability to disable tap to click)
latest synaptics driver from their site (no ability to disable tap to click)
SAD2.5 synaptics driver (no ability to disable tap to click)
So I Used an ALps driver (lists either, on tosh site for this machine) and tap to click is available to turn on and off and it works, its not greyed out like it is with any synaptics one.
But I get nag at boot saying

ApntEx.Exe the procedure entry point Vxd_TypingInhibit could not be located in Vxdif.dll   OK it and it works.

And now I'm confused because after running SAD the installed driver was still not allowing tap to click adjustments and I was sure it now showed the synaptec device as BRANDED BY DELL
but I now have an Alps driver from toshiba site and that shows "Dell Touch pad" in the adjustment Windows
It came from here http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ … service=EU

Keyboard:
?? did I have any keyboard drivers install from SAD 2.5? because its now its listed as a Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
with driver 1.0.0.2

I used these nt6 32 bit packs

Audio 11.11
Chipset 12.12
Graphics A 12.03
Graphics B 12.03
Graphics Mobile 12.03
LAN 12.08

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

There are a lot of changes in the SAD version that @SteveDun contributed (Thank you!).
I would have coded the new additions differently.  That doesn't make them wrong, just different coding styles.
I haven't had a chance to go through the changes in-depth though, just briefly.
I do plan on rewriting most of the code to incorporate improvements I learned while coding the LIU utility for our LinMin sponsors.

Hi,

Where can I find the instructions on how to use SAD2?

Thank you,

First post.  There's also a 'ReadMe.txt' file in the package.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Thank you for the quick reply...

The first post describes what to do in Win7.  I need to install SATA drivers in XP Pro.
The 'ReadMe.txt' file in the package describes the benefits between method 1 and method 2 but doesn't say how to select method one or two.

Thanks,

look up at my post (GO UP 5)

In the end its fantastically simple to install drivers, Run SAD 2.5.exe it makes a few folders with obvious names.  Download the driver packs and put Packs in the right folders and run "dp-install_tool.cmd" follow very simple yes / no questions and job done.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

It would be very nice to be able to install the correct SATA driver when XP Pro is installed.  I can't get SAD2 to install the driver for some reason.

I have downloaded DriverPackInstlToolSAD2-120520.exe and run it in a folder of it's own.  It did expand the folders and cmd file.
I have downloaded the following DriverPackFiles.  I put them in the folder NT5/x86.
I'm running XP Pro 32bit.

When I change the BIOS to IDE it boots fine.  I'm using an Intel SSD 520 series 240gb.  I'd like to have it run in AHCI because I am dual booting this machine with Win7. (Which boots fine with AHCI)

What could I do to get the SATA driver loaded properly in XP?

Thank you,

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

the answer is to use DriverPacks BASE

the tutorial is linked in MrSmartepants and my signatures
and available in the FAQs
and if you click on the "docs" button on the home page.

SAD is for installing drivers AFTER you install windows.

BASE adds drivers to your Win NT5 Source files (2K, XP and 2K3 server).

Since you are installing XP you want DriverPacks BASE...
Add drivers as per tutorial... issue solved.

PS code tags really help ... edit your post to see how i added them. wink

Google search for "How to enable AHCI after XP installation".  Your answer lies there.
You need to edit the registry BEFORE you restart.

Thank you both for the guidance.   I finally got it installed properly.

Thanks for some great software.

The download link appears to be broken, "Invalid or Deleted File."

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Hey,

Firstly, thanks for the SAD guys, it's fantastic.

I'm currently using SteveDun's 2.5 modded version, but i'm still getting several different touchpad driver applications installed on the system. Cypress, ELAN, Synaptics and Alps are all getting installed. I've tested this a few times and sometimes it can result in the touchpad not working until I uninstall the software again.

So in the changelog for 2.5, it's mentioned that the touchpad issue should be fixed. I can't see what's been changed in the code to fix this however. What should have fixed the issue - is it just the newer version of DPInst?

I'm testing on a Tosh laptop with Win7 64-bit, with the options set up at the start of the script:

SET "SILENT=Y"
SET "CLEAN=N"
SET "REBOOT=R"
SET "KTD=N"

I'm using "DP_Touchpad_Mouse_wnt6-x64_1203", and i've also tried some newer packs from the forums, with the same sort of results.

The hardware ID for the touchpad on this system is ACPI\TOS0300, and the drivers from the Toshiba site for this laptop are Synaptics.

Don't know if this is an issue with SAD or the driverpacks/dpinst. If anyone wants to take a look, here's the dpinst.log file. I'm not exactly sure what i'm looking for in this log, but there's a few instances of touchpad drivers being installed then rolled back by dpinst - i guess it's possible that the driver software wasn't rolled back at the same time as the driver.

Thanks!

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

I don't see any reboot option with /R in the last version.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

@thatwill or anyone else...
Can you please try this updated version 2.7 and let me know if the touchpad drivers are installed correctly.  Also improved speed of script.  I have tested in vmware and it installed only one touchpad driver which was correct but I dont have another computer to test this on in real life for I am in the middle of my class homework, sorry.  Please give feedback.

I know mr.smartepants is working on a new method but until then I am trying to get this to work to some degree with the touchpad drivers.

@electropica
from cmd prompt type /? or /H to read silent switches for either my modified version or the original version by mr.smartepants.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Well, that's sad; no pun intended.
Avira flags that as 'ADWARE/Adware.Gen'

This is not a detection from the latest Avira VDF update, though.
Maybe after update, no problem, perhaps?
I do see that they sent me an exe instead of the rar file i wanted.
Damn downloaders.  I did clear the checkbox to avoid the DLM.  Oh, yeah. JS.  Blast.

Maybe that wasn't a false positive concerning the download (mis)manager.   hmm
Gotta give that one a try on VirusTotal, etc.

2/37 scanners - Dr.Web & Fortinet call it a 'malicious site' in Virus Total
Dr.Web URL category:  Known infection source

The downloaded file analysis is perhaps more revealing:  https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/a428 … 365470483/
There, 8/46 scanners detected the 'downloader' as malware.

Anubis is a little more verbose than i can follow:  http://anubis.iseclab.org/?action=resul … format=pdf
The DLM does appear to rely upon IE.

The rar file is clean, of course.
My apologies if i've been making you feel like you were getting ready for a flight.  Cough please.

An attempt to view their Terms of Service rendered the following:

Data File Host wrote:

"The file you requested (id indexphp) does not exist. It might have been deleted due to inactivity (no downloads) or due to not complying with our terms."
   Quoted from:  http://www1.datafilehost.com/d/indexphp?page=tos

That's hilarious!  No Terms exist.  Even with JavaTheHutScript. (ho, ho, ho ho!)

Since SAD2 is licensed under GPL (iirc), shouldn't they be releasing their source code to the downloader or something?

Sorry, i know; review SAD2.7, not the @#$%^&* download manager!  They always hit a raw nerve with me.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

This is why I truely hate uploading anything to upload servers.  Almost all have downloaders or something then ppl think it is the rar file that is a virus.  Its clean.  Its the upload server bs.  Sorry for lang but it is true.  lol

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

I'll give this a go within the day on XP.  I do try to be thorough.  Concentrating on HID pack.

I can verify TP Mfg.  I should also be checking for loaded &/or installed utilities that do not belong, i suppose.

SteveDun's SAD2 v2.7 mod is available above.
Avoid the Download Manager, though.  It may be detected by your AntiVirus.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

I did notice in xp machine there is a extra Graphics PhysX dll if that pack is included.  I dont use it myself but others have told me of the dup....its in the packs not nothing to do with the script.  Just thought I would share what I have found out so far.  Thanks for your input TechDud.

Also just a note....2.7 shouldnt install multiple touchpad drivers....should only be one now....lets just hope it is correct one.  I have noticed one problem with the touchpad hardware ids is that some are the same so might need to filter it in script possibly...we shall see.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Great update for 2.7, thanks! It's great to have the 'IF' statement for the 'tada.vbs' as i've been rem'ing this line out before just incase the OS has sound issues it hangs on trying to play this file, but doesn't display anything to the user about the problem.

Good job!

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

@ blabley
you cant use sound recorder or media player to play sound effect for sound recorder isnt in vista and higher and media player doesnt work in xp so I decided to use SAPI.SpVoice to play sound effect which works on xp and higher.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

I apologize SteveDun, i need more time with this.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

No problem TechDud for I am busy with college right now.....with my discussion boards and projects I will be busy the next few days doing research.  I will check in from time to time to see what you or anyone else has to say about the v2.7 but wont be able to apply time to it till after Sunday.  Take your time.  lol

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

No results yet, efforting....

a little OT.  Yet, for future LZMA2 support, or as a personal update

I'm not testing with that as of yet, just a little note less a quote.  smile
