Topic: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

Original thread: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 211#p49211
I was trying to install XP using a USB3 drive, but it would always give a 0x7b BSOD at phase 1.

So I modified the Massstorage Drivers Pack:

http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/3 … 06-7z.html

Once modified I could install XP off a USB3 drive (with Method 2, and KTD for phase 2)

Any chance these could be added to this pack?

if yes, Etron, Fresco, and VIA, need fixing, phase 1 can't find their files for some reason I can't figure out.

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

USB 3 Mass-storage all working now.

http://www.mediafire.com/?t2a135xuc5urrai

any chance of inclusion in next version?

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

It would seem that one half of the NEC/Renesas drivers are outdated, the other half are missing, as are the intel USB 3.0 drivers (intel is w7-only; http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/u … 033072.htm).
See:   http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 583#p48583

There's a FrescoLogic driver update here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 087#p49087, a TI's driver update  http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 006#p49006, & one for VIA arena, as well http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 005#p49005.

Is my timing relevant, now that you seem to be climbing out of "proof-of-concept"?

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

I also found all those drivers hosted here

http://station-drivers.com/page/drivers.htm

and I can extract them from their installers with the command prompt?

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

We never use drivers downloaded from station drivers (or other 3rd party sites) because their sources can not be verified.
We try to use only drivers downloaded from their vendor source to maintain a "chain of custody" to ensure DriverPacks integrity.

OK, updated drivers and missing renesas one added

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

D'oh!  I neglected to mention the AMD USB 3.0 drivers as i didn't notice them until now.

From DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_1209.7z:
D\C\U\A\amdhub30.inf
D\C\U\A\amdxhc.inf
D\C\U\A\USBFilter.inf

Sorry, there were still updates for the NEC\Renesas chips (see the "Edit:")
     here --> http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 583#p48583

"The latest driver for the uPD720200(a) series is 2.1.36.0"
...
"The latest driver for the uPD720201, 2 series is 3.0.20.0"

Indeed, i do understand why you passed over v3.5.73.0 for Fresco.  Do you have any comment on asustreiber.de - is it really ASUS?

Also wondering if you could remove the link to StationDrivers in the Etron folder, please.

Forgive me if i seem too much of a PITA; it's for our audience, though; including:

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

OK

AMD USB 3 Drivers added,

but these

"The latest driver for the uPD720200(a) series is 2.1.36.0"
...
"The latest driver for the uPD720201, 2 series is 3.0.20.0"

don't work,
Windows XP says they are corrupt
So I've used the ones in Chipset 12.09

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

After checking the packages sourced from lenovo, lycom & sunix versus those @ station-drivers.com, all hashes match for both controller series.  Is it possible that you extracted the wrong driver?

There are two relevant folders in the installer.  "driver\Files\x86" & "driver\Files\x86_xp".  Instructions for extraction for .exe's same as Etron USB3 installer here.

If that is no help, how about v3.0.16.0 for the uPD720201, 2 series from a more widely-known source?  hmm

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

Maybe I didn't extract properly the first time

heres what I got

http://www.mediafire.com/?cy8bmup4bnfwz23

do they match what you extracted?

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

None of the files provided in 'renesas drivers.zip' match the XP drivers extracted.

For the lenovo package "8ay210ww.exe", i used the venerable LegRoom's  Universal Extractor mod by Gora v1.6.1.64 to extract the folder "{app}\driver\Files\x86_XP".
Use the station-drivers.com package (& Acresso_v16 extraction instructions; as below) to confirm, if you wish.

As for the other driver, "uPD720201V30200.zip" contains the file "Setup-30200.exe".

This file, like the Etron packages, and other Acresso (now Flexera; formerly Macrovision Software Business Unit - a spinoff from Macrovision Corp. which had acquired InstallShield; do not confuse Acresso Soft. with Agresso Soft.) v16 installers, are not properly extracted by the current mod of Universal Extractor.

"Setup-30200.exe /b"C:\temp"" works in Command Prompt,
just navigate to your %temp% folder (most likely not the same as "C:\temp", that is where the .msi is duplicated) for the full output before cancelling the installer.  Do it with the internet temporarily disabled to prevent this installer (et al) from possibly "calling home" as other installers seemingly do (ie:  Avira, Ccleaner, Flash Player, Java, etc, etc, etc, etc, ...).
Then you are able to properly extract the contents of "rusb3drv.msi" with Universal Extractor, using the "MSI Administrative Installer".  big_smile

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

Thanks for the help! Universal Extractor did the trick! (admittedly, I skipped universal extractor because I assumed 7zip would be able to do it)

Updated renesas drivers

anything else I need to do?

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

I'll take it from here and make any corrections (if needed).

It would seem that cdob beat us to the punch long ago!

It may have started with this post by Damnation.

Seems like that Fresco/VIA are happy with WDFLDR.sys and WDF01000.sys simply being present in the I386 folder

txtsetup.sif and sys files

If this works, Can DP BASE compress and add sys files to I386 folder without adding unnecessary entries to txtsetup.sif?"

Good work, cdob!

I'd like to ask Damnation's question for him again.
"Can DP BASE compress and add sys files to I386 folder without adding unnecessary entries to txtsetup.sif?"

It'd sure be cool to eliminate the need for plugins or lacking textmode support for crucial WDF devices.

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

yep, we also have the PnP=5 debacle to deal with.

i think both require a HIV file edit, a subroutine that does not currently exist in BASE.

I REALLY need to find some sit down time and do these items.

Re: [REQ] Include USB3 Massstorage driver for XP?

that cdob post is interesting...  It got me thinking

He loaded it as a busdriver ... i bet that gets rid of most of the extranious entries if done that way.

mark the USB drivers as "busExtenders" (especially if they really are)

Q:What does the entry "ms_1_isBusExtender" mean?
A:The "ms_1_isBusExtender" entry specifies wether the driver is a bus extender or not.
Q:How can I find out if my driver is a bus extender?
A:Open the .inf files which should be included in the driver. Look for a line similar to the following:
LoadOrderGroup = System Bus Extender
If that line is present then your driver is a busextender.

OF course i will still have to deal with the wdf coinstaller thing... for now we can make people slipstream the hotfix with RVMI or whatever.
