I have my SAD2 folder on a different DVD.  Once I have Win7 loaded on the target machine, and the installation is 100% finished, THEN I put in my SAD2 DVD and run the utility.
I've found that keeping the machine off of any network during the install minimizes any potential threat from internet malware.  In fact, I don't let any machine on the network until the OS has been fully installed and I've installed some anti-virus software first.
Remember, Chipset and Mass Storage are the only boot-critical drivers.  The rest can wait.

i've injected the drivers (LAN - Wlan - Mass Storage) into the...

WinPE 3.1 Image & main sysprep image using MDT 2010 Update 1


is this not the right way..... have i gone down the wrong path?


MDT seems to inject the drivers fine, it even makes some adjustments to some of the INFs in the driver packs because x64 info are present (it takes that information out of the inf's)

only done a lot of reading and theory stuff so far, haven't done hardly any practical testing at this point.

MDT is a lovely tool, and fully supported by MS amazingly, but i have yet to fully understand it's power.

That's fine.  Everyone has their own personal choice.  You can integrate ALL the DriverPacks if you want, but I personally feel that's ridiculous.
The thing to remember about SAD is that it's designed to be used to upgrade drivers on an already running system.

Hello mr_smartepants,

Thanks for clearing that  up for me about SAD/SAD2 that it is use to UPGRADE driver(s) on an existant running system.  So, this will not resolve my problem which is to be able to SLIMSTREAM windows SP1 and integrate DriverPacks Drivers from windows 7 (chipset, massStorage and WLAN) with one utility.

First, I tried RT7Lite; less it perforance which is very slow, it does allow me to SlipStream Wndows 7 SP1, but does not have a way to integrate DriverPacks Drivers from windows 7 (chipset, massStorage and WLAN) all at once without me having to input/select each driver inf one at a time.

Second, I tried 7Customizer that does allow me to integrate all the Drivers at once. I can expand the DriverPacks Drivers into it on directory which it will search the driver current directory and all it subdirectories for the driver .inf. But 7Customizer problem is that it CANNOT Slimstream windows 7 SP1.

Now, you can see my problem. If I can find a second utility or a way that will allow me to Build my image or ISO using either one of these utilities above I will be happy. Do you have any suggestion or know of a way that I can make this happen.

Any utility that claims to slipstream SP1 into Win7 is doing it wrong.  The only way to get SP1 into your image is to install Win7 into VM, manually install SP1, then sanitize and recapture the install to a .wim file.  This is known as "reverse integration".
Your second option is to download your Win7 .iso with SP1 pre-integrated from a TechNet or MSDN account.  A standard TechNet subscription costs $200 for the first year and includes about 10 licenses for the various products (a bargain!)

For integrating updates & drivers, I prefer my own work. smile

I prefer your work, too.  $20 per license, what a steal!  This is what i've been waiting for to get 7 on my own machines.  What flavours of 7 are available?

This is a great value for the money. I was wrong about the licenses, you get two licenses of each of the major Windows OS's... in both flavors - 32bit and 64bit.  You also get licenses for other productivity software, including Office.
TechNet Standard – TWO licenses per product

TechNet Professional – FIVE licenses per product.

The license limits are on the number of installations for each software title. For example TechNet Standard gives you two licenses for Office 2010 and Office 2007 and Windows 7 and Windows Vista plus many other products. The Professional edition gives you five of each.

MSDN just has more licenses and better support (free calls to MS for support). Also they send you a complete set of discs (so you don't have to download all the ISOs. I had a MSDN universal account a few years ago... the Disc set is a nice thing to have around if you are a tech big_smile big_smile big_smile

the license are technically for "non production environments" (testing only) but work just the same as a "valid" license... otherwise how could you do valid testing tongue.

so no they are not time limited and they are not transferable... Technically they are not even to be used ... except for testing. BUT you can test as much and often and as long as you like tongue - HINT: Don't activate your installs unless you have to big_smile.

Question for you smile

Could you point me to the right direction on how to make the script automated?  I'd like to add this to my Windows 7 image and have it auto run after first boot without having to hit enter to confirm the request to begin.

Well, to make it run without the "press any key..." just delete all instances of "pause" from the code.
You can call the batch file how ever you want.
As an example, you could call it from the %cdrom%\sources\$oem$\$$\Setup\scripts\setupcomplete.cmd

Thanks so much for your help and quick response.  I'll give it a shot later today.

On a side note... I've been trying to fill in some holes missing for drivers on my work side of things when it comes to driverpacks.  I've got a few drivers that are not standard, run of the mill for Intel chipset so I've made a 3rd party driverpack for them and it installs and registers fine. smile

My only question is how would I go about adding the SOFTWARE to go with the drivers?  Here is an example - http://support.dell.com/support/downloa … eid=438093

The SOL driver I can create a 3rd party package for and install the driver, but the intel software isn't coming across.  I'm sure it is something to do with my folder structure.  I could do a silent install of the software with a /S command (which does work).  I'd just like to know how to build it into the base driverpack option so I don't need to do more work smile  I know it's possible based off of the audio and video packages that are on the site.  Just curious smile

Why not just make a pack .ini and let DriverPacks Finisher do all the work?

Hello again, been using your tool on most of the PC's I come across! Couple of ideas/questions...

1, I'm using 1105005, still current? I don't see new on Page 1

2, How about allowing me to keep the drivers, I think it worth the disk cost as a backup, I tried editing the batch file but without success.

- Is it possible to disable the "do you want to reboot" "later or now" prompt question by Windows 7 just after logging to the session ?

I'm not sure what you mean.  My utility doesn't ask if you want to reboot.  If you don't want the timer to count down at the end then just delete the whole :Timer section.
It does have a "silent" switch though, just use the command: DP_Install_Tool.cmd /S
