Topic: [SLVD] legacy ATI driver not fully installed

Hi mr_smartepants, used all these to build a new disc incl win media centre addon.  Windows installed OK but although device manager shows correct drivers installed for graphics it has tiny yellow? by Radeon x800 listing.  Although could change screen res OK and had 32 bit colour switching to media centre it says unsupported graphics.

Manually tried 11.11 didn't change anything, tried correct 10.2 got 2 unsigned driver nags, rebooted all now ok and media centre happy.  Can't be sure BUT I thought after dp finished it showed 8593.100 now its happy shows 8.593.100 both same date of 10/02/2010

wow !!!...  looked for code trying to put this in appropriate style and it wiped all my text out

Please try this DriverPack Graphics C integrated into the XP disc and retry.

Download 11.11r1

I removed the invalid .cat file from the driver installed on your system.  It SHOULD install fine.

If not, can you try the really old DriverPack Graphics A 9.06 (with no other graphics packs)?  It has the "legacy" 9.3 catalyst drivers with a valid .cat file.

Yes, that is unfortunate.  But let us know how that old pack works for you.  I may rip out the newer "legacy" drivers and go back to the Catalyst 9.3 as you pointed out in this thread.

missed what I was trying to say....    I only only had chip and mass storage in back up.  Where can I get the old graphics A old to test ?

Hi mr_smartepants, did excatly the same as both previous builds except this time as requested ONLY installed DriverPack Graphics A 9.06

Driver now correctly installed and card calls itself Radeon XT800 XT Platinum Edition ("XT Platinum Edition" part was not displayed before )

driver listed as 8.591.0.0 dated 25/02/2009 and digitally signed.

i note that the Catalyst 10.2 driver is "mistakenly" installed on pre-R300 or pre-M10 mobile ATI graphics HW (including M6, M9, U1, RS300M - which don't support Direct3D using v8.593.100).  The latest driver that fully supports Direct3D for this type of HW is v8.252.0 (modded by Mr_E).  This is not a DriverPacks bug, per se, yet an "ATI" error in including all-such non-supporting HWIDs in the non-WHQL .Inf.

Perchance could such HW be commented out in this inf?

I see in Sound, video and game controllers, I get "ATI T200 Unified AV Stream Driver" 6.14.10.1095   dated 31/03/2009 and WHQL signed.  Never noticed that before.

It works, thanks.


Comes up as x800 platinum edition (twice as expected) after first boot was installing avivo codecs or something.
