Topic: RSS feed for new torrents

I was wondering if there was a RSS feed for the torrent files.  I would like to add the feed into my Torrent program (uTorrent) and automatically get the newest driver packs as they are released.   Also this would help me to seed the latest and greatest torrents.

I currently subscribe to other torrent RSS feeds and it works out great  I would like to see something similar with driver packs.

and yes I do know about    http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/latest/feed   it just isn't something I can use in my bit torrent client.

Re: RSS feed for new torrents

I believe that is intentional, only Wim knows for sure.  He may chime in here...

We get very little in the way of donations / revenue, one way we are able to get donations are thru our banner ads on the download pages. Linmin for example is one of our biggest contributers. in order for us to realize that revenue stream we need to demonstrate page views. The more page views the more value those banner spots represent. It is very important to us (and to you) to be able to keep the lights on here at DriverPacks.net. Since we almost never get donations that is the only way we can pay the server bills.

Thanks for your interest and welcome to DriverPacks.net

I'll bring your request to Wim's attention.

Re: RSS feed for new torrents

That does make sense.

I was thinking of it as a way to keep my Torrent Seeds populated with the current packs.   I have a 15Mb/s connection at work and have been using it to help seed off peak hours when our bandwidth is idle.   I don't have a Linux box i could donate but I thought this would be a way I could keep my windows box seeding the current torrents when they came online.

Re: RSS feed for new torrents

Click on the "Donate" tab at the top of this page.  Then scroll to the bottom.  There are instructions to "donate bandwidth" and set up your own seedbox.  Then all your torrents will be synchronized with our seedboxes automatically.  No RSS needed.

Re: RSS feed for new torrents

Woo hoo! Hope to see your server added to the list soon.
once you get online Wim will prolly add you to the donors group and you will enjoy access to our testing team forum too. That will enable youto get a sneak peak at our latest work in progress. Perhaps you can even help with testing...

Again - Thanks for your interest (and generous offer) and welcome to DriverPacks.net

Re: RSS feed for new torrents

mr_smartepants and OverFlow are right, that's the thing we need to balance: page views to get some much-needed money to keep everything up & running, versus ease of use for you, the end-user.

While I do understand that you like to have everything automated (I'm exactly the same way!), I think it's not asked *too* much to simply subscribe to the regular RSS feed, click through to the actual web page from your feed reader, and click the "download" link to get the .torrent file. That way, if users occasionally also click on the ads, we still get *some* money… smile

We appreciate the understanding you've already shown in your comment *very* much! smile
