Topic: Continual 0000007B error

Hi, and thanks for providing such an awesome service, it really simplifies things for newbies like me. However, I still haven't got it to work properly, and can't find any topics where anyone else has had this problem. I am trying to install to a Packard Bell Easynote E3265 with AMD Turion x64 processor, having had an HD error which forced me to format. I've downloaded all driver packs for XP x86 and included them in the installation, following the step-by-step instructions precisely (I think). I've checked 'DriverPack MassStorage text mode', to do away with needing a floppy. But still I get to the point where it says 'opening Windows' then I get BSOD and 0000007B error, which as I understand relates to the hard drive controllers lacking drivers.

I don't know where to turn now, please help.

Ok, got it, but being an .exe I'm going to have trouble running it without a working Windows OS, which so far I haven't managed to achieve. Do you think I can run it from Puppy Linux on a USB stick?

It's a windows executable.  The HWIDs can be read from many other utilities so you can borrow someones UBCD4win disc or use a linux live cd.  The HWID for the device would be VEN_**** & DEV_**** & possibly SUBSYS_******.
Even if you install XP without DriverPacks, you can still get the HWIDs.  Or you can reinstall the original OS (Vista?) and get them that way.

I only tried the latest graphics driverpack 'A' for XP - I'll try using 'B', its also got some Nvidia drivers.

No, the problem you're having is with the dpms.
Nvidia has historically had problems.
Do you still have the problem if you ONLY integrate the latest dpms & chipset?
If so, try downgrading dpms to v9.01

No luck. Integrated only the latest MassStorage and chipset DriverPacks, same 0000007B error. Downgraded to MassStorage 9.01, failed at the same point, but came up with 'IaStor.sys not present. Setup Failed'.

you can't reuse the same source when you integrate 901... Start with a fresh source.

Turns out the hard drive was knackered - finally managed to install Windows 7 where I got lots of warning messages about the hard disk failing imminently, then it refused to boot up and the hard drive wasn't spinning. Thanks for putting time in anyway guys.
