Re: Graphics A x64

Hello all,

I cannot unzip the archive DP_Graphics_A_wnt6-x64_1004.  I am using MS Deployment Workbench and need to unzip the 7z.  It asks for a password.  I did a MD5 on the downloaded file (downloaded 3 times with same result).  The MD5 hash is: 9a0176ef0a0b607c63dddce418e9d59e where according to the web page (http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/wind … cs-a/10.04) is supposed to be: 1246181DCAD91671A0838E01F4BC3CD7.

Is it just me or is there a corrupt uploaded on the server?

Franco

Re: Graphics A x64

Our simplecdn server host is hiccuping.  You have a corrupted download if the hashes don't match.  Please clear your browser cache and try the download again.
It may take several attempts over several days to get it right.  Wim is in talks with the hosting company (and others) in order to correct the problem.

Hello Mr. smartepants,

it is working now and the md5 hash is correct.

Thanx for the info.

Re: Graphics A x64

I slipstreamed some packs into a Win7 x64 installation, and all of them work fine, except for nVidia drivers. When I deploy the image to the compuetr, after all the configuration steps, it shows the desktop and displays an error about the video driver install, saying "The drivers for this device are not installed" (Code 28). After that, it goes to install the default Windows driver.

This only happens with nVidia drivers. ATI/AMD works fine.

Re: Graphics A x64

Yes, the current nvidia drivers are garbage.  I'm reverting the DriverPacks back to the stable 270.61 drivers.

The same problem. The only way out is to unpack DP_Graphics_A_wnt6-x64_1106.7z remove * inside nvidia folder. Get the latest x64 nvidia driver from official site. unpack the content of the driver (all the files and folders from the original driver) and put them into  DP_Graphics_A_wnt6-x64_1106 in NVIDIA folder. Allready tried to put only files from Display.Driver but thet was a bad idea....

At least the drivers mr_smartepants chooses to release don't cause the VidCard fan(s) to shut down!

Re: Graphics A x64

NVidia-296.17-WHQL for Win8_x64 is available via --> http://www.station-drivers.com/forum/vi … amp;t=3669
as a candidate for testing only. hmm

OSAttr is 2:6.2 {NT6.2} & sha256 is used for signatures now.

Re: Graphics A x64

I grabbed those from the WindowsUpdate catalog.

Re: Graphics A x64

check out the funny new security catalog.  i wonder if server 8 won't enforce these.

Re: Graphics A x64

Both x86 & x64 Win8 v296.17 WHQL drivers are also available via OEM (for Win8 Consumer Preview only!).
  desktop x86 english here --> http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exe
       international http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exe
  desktop x64 here --> http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exe
       international http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exe big_smile
  notebook x86 (international) here --> http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exe
  notebook x64 (international) here -->  http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/2 … review.exebig_smile

The desktop Security Catalogs look more reasonable than that first Win8 driver link, a mix of sha1 & sha256.

The new release is more widely-available through WindowsUpdateCatalog now, although they claim Win8CP WHQL (it's actually Win7 in the Security Catalog & the claimed file-sizes are a tad inaccurate).  DriverVer = 03/06/2012, 9.18.12.9617 note: v296.17

Example for NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT/GeForce8600M GT:
x86 desktop --> http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ … ff510f115b
x86  notebook --> http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ … 09e9a8ef9f
x64 desktop --> http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ … 7aeb37d8b5
x64 notebook --> http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ … 597b4f8e37
  MS structures their driver packages different from the OEM DL, though; no "bells & whistles". hmm

Re: Graphics A x64

I edited your post to reflect that the first set of driver links are only for Win8 Consumer Preview and not for the developer preview or Win7.

Release Highlights:
This is a preview GeForce driver to be used only with the Microsoft Windows 8 Consumer Preview. This driver should not be used with Windows Vista, Windows 7, or the Windows 8 Developer Preview.

This driver offers full support for the new Windows 8 display driver model WDDM 1.2.

And yes, I'm already working on updating the packs to include the 296.10 Win7/Vista drivers.

Re: Graphics A x64

the drivers on WinUpdateCatalog appear to be WHQL for Win7 x86 & x64 (despite the Win8CP label) and v296.17, later than the OEM v296.10.  Oddity, eh?  Your 'Navel Researcher' found something other than lint, once again! lol

Next question, which is the new driver that has the least potential to shut off the on-card fans? yikes

It would seem that the community may need to come to the aid of the moderators here.
Time is increasingly short for both DriverPacks' principals and myself.

Personally, i have realized no financial benefit to assisting the moderators here; it has simply been a community service and an honor at that.  smile

Re: Graphics A x64

As I'm personally interested in an update of this pack; can anyone tell me how to do this?

From the current version I can assume that the following simple steps suffice for updating this one:

1) download 310.70 for x64 from nvidia.com
2) unzip using WinRAR
3) copy these files into the driverpack structure
4) zip it up

Right? smile

(*) similar steps for ATI, although that one looks tougher wink

Re: Graphics A x64

If that works for you, then let us know.
We haven't updated Nvidia in a while because they hard-code the folder names into the drivers.  DISM will fail unless all the flaming hoops are jumped through in the correct order.
Good luck though. wink
