You removed some directories..
1- Is the removed directories (or drivers) still working via dir "01" ?
ex: the previous dir "08" - HPlj 1300.
2- I noticed that all hp drivers in dir "02" can be added via Add Printer Wizard in Windows XP. so what is the need?
3- Can i remove a dir, then compress the folder "DP_PrintersHP_wnt5_x86-32_70515" via 7z - Ultra without problems.
ex: dir "07".
.....
1/ According to HP supported printers : yes, 1300 series are supported with Universal Driver in sub-dir 01.
2/ So it can be removed if driver included in XP is as much fully functionnal.
3/ Yes
maxximum,
The printer pack dir didn't removed and stay in the %systemdrive% after the setup.
although i'm using "Disable KTD".
Is this usual or not?
Sometimes %SystemDrive%\D is deleted on next reboot.
Let me say it in another way:
I'm using Disable KTD.
Why this directory especially! stays and not removed,
althought all other packs directories deleted.
(and if i'm using KTD.. it should reside in the %Windir%\DriverPacks\D not in %systemdrive%)
It's annoying me and the size of it too (?? MB)

I don't know why you have this directory on root drive.
Did you decompressed manually the archive ?
DriverPack is correctly named and directory structure is correct inside 7z file.
Dit you put DP_PrintersHP_wnt5_x86-32_70515.7z in "3rd party DriverPacks" before building your UA XP ?
never mind!

I made a new XPCD with the original pack (7,05,15)... the dir removed.
The problem happens when removing some directories from the pack, then compress the folder "DP_PrintersHP_wnt5_x86-32_70515.7z" with 7z (ultra)..
But you told me it's OK.
3- Can i remove a dir, then compress the folder "DP_PrintersHP_wnt5_x86-32_70515" via 7z - Ultra without problems.

3/ Yes
Could you please tell me how Exactly you compress your pack.
Follow HowTo in this forum.
Sorry to say that: The pack dosn't recognize hp laserjet 1300
maybe "Dir 1" dosn't operate like hp says.
Maybe it is because in pack PCL5e version, not PCL6, recommended by HP and installed by default?
So ... switch from PCL 5 to PCL 6 ?
I don't think the problem is PCL6.
I think this "HP Universal Print Driver Series" doesn't have the driver files for which called "Supported Printers" , OR i have less experience installing it.
The problem still exist in the latest pack, while the previous pack could detect those printers (ex: hp LJ 1300)

Can you download both versions PCL5 & PCL6 and test them :
http://www.hp.com/go/universalprintdriver_software
I would like to help Maxximum,
But i don't think that THIS "Universal Print Driver (of any type: PostScript, PCL5, PCL6)" can install THOSE "Supported Printers" as an unknown devices.
Cause i extract the exe: "hpupd40pcl6-32" - Universal Print Driver (PCL6) ...
but didn't find the driver files for those "Supported Printers - Ex: HP LJ 1300"
I'm sure that this "Universal Print Driver" is concerned with something else other than installing an unknown printer.

Universal driver with Laserjet 2300 print output from programs is all rubbish (random characters) although test page is fine - any ideas? (tested on different 2300's and on different pc's)
ok it seems the universal driver is completely screwed, just tried on an HP 8150 too...presume its the driver itself?
Incidently it also can't see full res of printer on 2300 or 8150
Please download this .doc from below link and open in word, print it and you will see most of the fonts get totally screwed up,
http://www.wfu.edu/~yipcw/is/xptest/fonts.doc
If you want to rebuild with individual drivers I wil lbe happy to help.

Just tried the latest Universal printer driver PCL6 from HP , and it has fixed all issues....
Hmm no replies still, I took liberty to remove the existing pcl5 driver (sub-dir 01), then have added the latest pcl5 v4.0.0.0 (its been fractionally updated) and also pcl6 v4.0.0.0 universal drivers. Both dated 16-Apr-2007
I don't know if the newer pcl5 driver fixes problems above (not tried it) but presume will be same issues - maybe other people have had better luck with it?
Also in this release I left in the HP setup program incase anyone KTD's it and wishes to use it that way at a later date, only adds a couple of meg to size (both are untouched from extracted source)
http://3rdpartydriverpacks.thesneaky.co … -32_706.7z
If anyone is interested the PCL5 'system' is meant to be more robust and less susceptable to crappy cabling/network than PCL6. (HP say if you get lots of PCL errors on printouts running PCL6 then to try PCL5 instead.)

I added your pack to the big sticky.
Please always also post updates in that very thread so the first post of it can be updated accordingly.
Also, always post the MD5 sum whenever you release something!
So far, I will add it myself based on what I have downloaded hoping it did not get corrupted, but the ideal solution is if the checksum is supplied by the creator.
amm link don't work
Thanks for taking time to help...
