Topic: New Feature to DriversBase - Disable SCSI\SAS drivers.

I want to request sugest a option to DriversBase.

I always use it to slipstream MassStorage TextMode drivers to my XP source, But me and I think 90% of users no need SCSI, SAS and TapeDrive drivers than is not better add a option to inject only IDE, SATA and RAID drivers to XP source instead all this useless files? Or maybe create a Lite version of this DriverPack. This will speedup TextMode setup several times.

To do this speedup I have used in last 2 years this following script:

but it is very outdated...

Sorry my poor english....

Re: New Feature to DriversBase - Disable SCSI\SAS drivers.

Well Mass storage is only about 5 meg total... Even if we could cut that in half (not likely) it would only save about 2 meg of file copy...

There is almost no benefit for the effort.

I vote no... not worth the effort.

Since the philosophy of the DriverPacks is to include ALL drivers it is also against our projects main goal...
So really, really no, it's not going to happen.

PS feature requests should go in the feature requests forum... Moved.

I think not only in space but in time to load drivers in textmode. By now I open DriverPack MassStorage ini and remove all SAS, SCSI entries. Then I use DriverBase to slipstream into XP source. After this removal I gain 3 minutes in slow machines and 1 minute in fast ones. To me that work with dozens of machines per week this minutes will speedup alot my work everyday.

And if DriverPack don't like this ideal can anyone simple update the script to remove that driver with RyanVM or NLITE? To me will be very usefull.

By the way I have problems with new MassStorage 10.0.6. Everytime I slipstream it on my XP source I get BSOD in hardware detection when I use SATA Controller on Virtual Box 3.2.6. This problem doesnt occours if I use older 9.0.11 version... Any solution to this issue?

Thanks for help

Re: New Feature to DriversBase - Disable SCSI\SAS drivers.

I understand what you are saying... but the one time i need the driver that i did not include... it will cost me way more than the one minute I would potentially save PLUS it would take time to omit them. The script to remove them is in the forum you linked to... it's a RVMI add on.

The biggest reason not to do it is man power... We don't have enough man hours to properly maintain the existing packs. Adding more work, in the form of a new pack, is just more work we don't have time for. On the other hand if you were willing to take on this task yourself I might be persuaded to consider it

there is the discussion about the VirtualBox driver...

I already done a custom\lite driverpack without SAS\SCSI drivers. I just don't know if will work to all people and if I miss some SAS and SCSI drivers.

And due of Intel ICH8M error in v10.06 I used version 9.0.11 to do it.

Other question:
Where I can download Night Builds or test version?
