Topic: Dell Studio 1558 - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

Hello. I have founded that latest massstorage driver pack doesn not include drivers for Intel Rapid Storage http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18860/e … y96x86.zip
Cause i`am trying to install and it does not recognise the storage.
This strings are missing
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B29&CC_0106.DeviceDesc    = "Intel(R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller"
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B2F&CC_0106.DeviceDesc    = "Intel(R) 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller"
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B22&CC_0106.DeviceDesc    = "Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller"

Re: Dell Studio 1558 - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

please use the hwids tool (linked in my signature) and post the output here.
this will help us to help you

Also... you failed to mention some Key details...
IE are you installing 2003 server or windows 2000, perhaps XP? What Service pack level is it?

Since you indicated you used the latest Mass Storage pack...
I will assume you used DriverPack MassStorage 10.05.29? (that is the latest available)
If not then please state specifically which version you did use...
did you select the text mode drivers?

It is allways required to put the DriverPacks BASE version in your title (or at least in your post)

much of the info needed to help you is contained in your DPs_BASE.log which is why it is required (Rule #0) to be included in your post.

Please see "Read BEFORE you post" AKA Rule#0 which is linked in my signature.
Please check off each numbered item as you include them in your post. TIA

Re: Dell Studio 1558 - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

Sorry. First time here, i really thought that my event is not so important...
1) i`ll post hwid when i`ll install windows
2) I have used "DriverPack Mass Storage 9.01 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 (x86)" - DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_901.7z  It is the latest avaliable for Windows XP.
I feel my self stranage, but i canot find anywhere yours 10.05.29 masstorage. I`also press update masstorage thrue a DPs_BASE.exe and it found nothing more fresh that i own.
3) I`am installing Windows XP SP3 ENG
4) in the first message there are textmode drivers

Re: Dell Studio 1558 - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

I have done a little patch to DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini and placed the drivers to I7 folder, repacked 7z archive .... and now windows setup is copying files smile)

Re: Dell Studio 1558 - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

the latest drivers are for testing team use only... however the location of the files is not a huge secret... Many users who are not on the testing team use them... That is to say you can NEVER say the latest version... especially if you don't even know what the latest version is... The latest version (for XP 2K and 2K3) is 10.05.29 - and you said you had the latest wink tongue... Do you see how confusing that is for us?  Never say i have the latest... always State Your Version!

mass 10.05.29 requires DriverPacks BASE 10.06.rc1 to work correctly if you had used the latest Mass without the latest BASE your install would have failed.

Again if you do not give good details we can't help you... always specifically state your versions and your OS and it's SP level... Fair enough?

try these and report success or failure please...

Mass 10.05.29
BASE 10.06.RC1

Thanks for your feedback.

Please try to help us to help you by providing good details in your posts (See Read BEFORE you post)
Code tags added to your post for you...

I have looked thrue the DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini it should work, cause it have the necessary VEN/DEV strings, but i`ll check if it see the drive.
Btw the Nightlies are only mass storage or the chipsets also ?

I have checked the mass 10.05.29, and it works. Windows XP see the hard drive, and is ready to install.

p.s. the setup has frosen one time when he was "starting windows", after loading drivers, i have rebooted notebook and windows started normally.

the nightlies are our test packs... they may or may not be stable. Testing only, not for production.
What is found there depends on who is working on what... Since we are all volunteers, there may be any given pack, or none, or all...

The best thing to do is to use the official releases until you have an issue. Once you d;iscover an issue let us know what the HWIDs of the offending device are and what pack versions you used.... IE Provide us your DPs_BASE.log and HWIDs output wink. then we will either invite you to try a nightly or we will create a nightly for you to test... Much like we did in this thread.... However next time we might be able to get to the finish line a little quicker now that you are familiar with our system big_smile.
