Topic: [IMPLEMENTED] Sony Vaio PCG-9E5M: ATI Mobility M1 driver not installed

Hiya, last driverpack I used would be 6.01, the Ati videocard this laptop uses (Mobility M1) wasn't supported back then, but I was to lazy to post. Now with the newest driverpack, it does get installed. 2 errors though:

- When I click on Ati tabs in the control panel, I get some strange errors about a .cpl file in shell32.dll.
- The driver isn't correctly installed because I can only select between 800x600 and 1024x768.
BTW it does say Ati M1, that is the correct name.

So I simply install the Ati driver Sony provides, restart and everything is fine smile
download Sony driver (it is their latest, dates from 2003)
Here's HWID + working drivers from Sony + link to the Sony site..

The hwids are now also logged in the DPsFnshr.log. No need for that other tool.

You are using the ATI CCP? Perhaps it does not support your Mobility GPU...

Yes I use CCP, not CCC. It's an old laptop... from 2003 or something.. after installing the Sony driver it works fine.. and I can select all resolutions including the screens native res 1400x1050. It's an old videocard, I only see "Ati Weergaves", Ati kleur", "Ati opties" en "Ati Overlapping". Nothing else is supported (I guess).
I've uploaded the driver.

But when you use the CCP I included it does not work at all, right?

I'll see if I can modify the .inf file so you can select custom resolutions. I doubt that though. You can always use PowerStrip to use custom resolutions, but of course it should be supported by default. I'll see what I can do.

Then I can only select 800 or 1024 res, clicking on the Ati Tabs produces an error but I can move the error window away and click some checkboxes (that remove the tray icon for example) and click Apply. When I want to click OK to close the window I have to close the error window first.
So the CCP works but the error makes it annoying to use. And the resolution problem I could indeed use Powerstrip for that  but then I found the driverfiles on my other partition.
When installing that driver, CCP works, but I think it has less tabs, wich is normal.. but I didn't pay attention on how many tabs there were.

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Sony Vaio PCG-9E5M: ATI Mobility M1 driver not installed

I know I'm repeating myself here as I posted this in many other threads so far, but to easily modify the INF file to get the ordinray rivers from ATi's page to support mobile devices, use http://www.driverheaven.net/patje
If yor card is not supported yet, do not hesitate to contact the author so he can add it to the list.
This modified driver could then be included in a 3rd Party DP (or Bâshrat the Sneaky could add it to the official packs maybe?) so you get both a current driver (not these totally outdated ones from your laptop manufacturer) and proper support for your res and more.

That's the tool I've used too to mod the drivers wink

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Sony Vaio PCG-9E5M: ATI Mobility M1 driver not installed

Oh, I see smile

Well, in any case, since the author specifically points this out, it is quite possible one or another card is not yet supported so best would be to get in contact with him when you encounter a card not working as expected.

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Sony Vaio PCG-9E5M: ATI Mobility M1 driver not installed

Well it seems this device is so old it isn't even supported by Patje's modtool! Looking for the best solution now...

EDIT: it's a 6.x series driver, while we're currently at 8.x! I guess it won't simply be a matter of hacking a .inf file, so I'll just add this driver to DriverPacks-b then.

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Sony Vaio PCG-9E5M: ATI Mobility M1 driver not installed

This device is already supported by the driver in D\G\A\5 (DriverPack Graphics B). Unfortunately your specific HWID was not yet supported. The driver you linked to is newer than the current one so I will customize the .inf file to only use ONE driver, since it's a rarely used driver.
