Topic: Results using Base 10.01.24 from within RVM_Integrator_1.6.1 beta 2.1

Back in November I opted to make a new XP Pro w/SP3 CD updated as of that date to get ready for Windows 7. That failed when I got Fatal Error code 800b0100 and I had to do a repair install using a CD a had created almost a year earlier. (That worked.)

Doing a bit of reading in forums and some research I opted to try Microsoft's PC2007 Virtual Machine. That worked and I determined that the Fatal Error was caused by a corruption in the XP w/SP3 copy of the CD I had on my hard drive. It seems the FAT32 to NTFS conversion I had done on the drive partition that contained the copy of the CD was at fault. I deleted all of those files and re-copied the XP Pro w/SP3 CD to the same partition and tried again; this time successfully. What follows is the log file created when I ran DriverPacks Base to create the new CD. Note that no errors occured during the install of XP in the virtual machine.

I wasn't sure on where to mention the results as I don't believe I am actually a member of the testing team so I figured feedback would work.

I'm guessing your question about mass text mode refers to DP_Mass Storage - that was omitted because the folks at http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8101  when I asked about AHCI drivers said to use these from Rogue Spear: RogueSpearAddonsM2-XPSP3-NoKtD_8.09.7z and MassStorageAddons_IaStor_8.5.0.1032.7z and to make sure not to use Driver Packs Mass Storage. If the Driver Pack's Mass Storage suppprts AHCI then I can use and pass on the word in the Ryan and Rogue Spear forums.

Re: Results using Base 10.01.24 from within RVM_Integrator_1.6.1 beta 2.1

Well definately don't use both at the same time wink.

If you have the hardware to test on that hardware please do (with our pack) and report the result big_smile.
If it works then we can pass on the result to Ryan and RogueSpear wink. Please  note those pack are from May of 2008 sad

I made considerable updates to the mass storage code in that release the problem may no longer exist, if it does let's get it fixed big_smile.

PS Donors are automaticaly made members of the testing team smile

The Mass Storage driver pack I have is: DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_100125.7z dated Jan 2010 - (don't have one dated May 2008) - does this version include AHCI drivers?

I was unaware of the donor to tester being automatic.

Re: Results using Base 10.01.24 from within RVM_Integrator_1.6.1 beta 2.1

More info - I had mentioned AHCI here: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=4029 and never saw an answer indicating AHCI had been added to Mass Storage, or I missed something somewhere.

Re: Results using Base 10.01.24 from within RVM_Integrator_1.6.1 beta 2.1

AHCI has been included for years...

asked and answered - in the other thread...

More specifically we have always included the Intel matrix storage manager drivers
which include the full set of drivers IDE and AHCI and RAID...

Have you tested it???

To put it bluntly it is ridiculous to act like it doesn't work if you have not even tried wink
The thread and drivers you keep referring to are from 2008, over two years ago... a lot has changed since then tongue
And even if it was working with DriverPacks BASE 8.12.x that is totally meaningless to me... since I pretty much rewrote the entire mass storage section of the code with DriverPacks BASE 10.01.x

- The only valid feedback will require DriverPacks BASE 10.x and DriverPack MassStorage 10.x and an Intel AHCI controller.

Test that and report on that big_smile!

If it fails, then we have something to talk about.
nobody else is reporting / has reported any problems - which leads me to believe there is no problem... feel free to show me that I'm wrong. wink

If its broken we'll fix it... THEN you can report that the problem no longer exists anywhere and everywhere big_smile
I don't know if it is broken unless somebody tests it... (perhaps some of your buddies who said it doesn't work may like to try it too)
It is irrelevant if it WAS broke in 2008, is it broken today?

Many of roguespears "fixes" were simply to use RIS drivers instead of the mainstream ones...
If that still needs to be done, then we will... We don't know if no one reports it!

Intel's drivers, DriverPacks BASE and DriverPack MassStorage have changed drastically in two years.
Test DriverPacks BASE 10 and DriverPack MassStorage 10 and report...

Either it still needs fixed or it doesn't and it really is just that Simple...
So does it still need fixed or not?
- Please tell me if it does need fixed still, Erik and I WILL fix it!
- Please tell me and everyone else if it is already resolved tongue big_smile
