Topic: intel iastor.sys bsod

The driver included in the XP driver pack downloaded in nov or dec 2009 causes a random blue screen, bsod, which points to iastor.sys. So XP installs fine, starts fine, the user can do her/his work until completely random Windows crashes thanks to the Intel AHCI driver. Updating this driver fixes this frustrating problem. Search for dc7900 and iastor.sys at the HP forum site for more examples...

This driver fixes the problem; Intel Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) Driver:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Te … vc-73579-1

setup.exe -noIMSMgui

Can you update your driver pack?

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

Already had a HP notebook with the same random blue screen cause. So it's not limited to the HP dc7900. There are many computers using this driver. So it seems like a good thing to update...

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

Try the latest nightly and see how that works...

MassStorage 10.01.25

Q) Can you update your driver pack?
A) Can you try a more recent pack?

Q) So it seems like a good thing to update...
A) So It will seem like a good thing to be polite too, read on...

Please, thank you, that kind of stuff...
mention how helpful the packs have been to you in the past.
Ask nicely rather than being demanding or insistent  etc...
Provide the info requested in Read BEFORE you post. Rule #0 from the screen you were presented when you signed up and agreed to our rules! big_smile.

Providing a link to the tested known good driver was noted and is appreciated big_smile, But without the HWID it was tested on and known good / to support the link is totally worthless.

Please note that requesting a driver is ALWAYS ignored of you do not supply a HWID with your request. Read the Rules and Guidelines especially #0 'Read BEFORE you post' Linked in my signature. (note that none of the required info was supplied). Be nice and respectful. (IE don't tell us how to add a driver) We don't need to be told how or why to add drivers we have been doing this over six years. I'm sure no one here asked for your opinion, so keep it to yourself. Especially if you can't follow the rules and guidelines. Please also review How To Ask Questions The Smart Way / General Forum Etiquette
- So, if you would prefer not to hear my opinion... wink

The DriverPack MassStorage has been updated a few dozen times.
You're just not on the testing team and with that condescending attitude and your inability to provide even basic required / requested info you never will be wink

Looking forward to helping you.
Let us know if the nightly takes care of your issue(s), and especially if it does not, and perhaps it will become a final release.

Have a great day!

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

The latest version has an error with it.  I get the error, "Line 14741 of the INF file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid.  Setup cannot continue.....

Line 14741 just says:  ="sym_hi"

This is under the [HardwareIdsDatabase]

There aren't any hwids before it.....

I deleted this line out and tried again and everything worked fine.

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

Ill check into it if you will supply your DPs_BASE.log

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

I just gave you basic insight in a problem with a number of pc's. That's all. You don't have to update it, but it is a problem. That's what I was here to inform. This is afterall a forum. But THANK YOU FOR DRIVERPACKS! Thought my comment would be helpfull. Nothing more.

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

@rinzwind - It's only helpful if you provide the BASE version, DriverPacks version, and the HWIDs... and you did not and still haven't.
So your post was not helpful at all. I tried to get you to provide the info that would help you to help us to help you wink. That is how the forum works! big_smile Again please see read before you post linked in my signature...

@kolbr try the new BASE version in with the nightlies and let me know if that fixes it wink

The HWIDs are not missing... that is intentional. that driver replaces three native windows drivers... the blank sections remove two of the three drivers that are replaced by the first one. This feature is only supported by the newest verson of DriverPacks BASE...

Added code tags to your post for you... wink

I had this exact same type of errors when using the (latest?) DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_100221.7z driverpack with the older DPs_BASE_8125.

OverFlow wrote:

With the newer DPs_BASE_100219 everything seems to work normal again without errors in the INF file! smile

I notice the latest base program has some problems displaying and selecting  the DPs_BASE option/menu pages?
Some texts look garbled and some check boxex sometimes cannot be selected correctly.

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

LOL the Test versions are for testing only... and you're not on the testing team... So you don't know what you were doing.

If you want stability use the official releases wink.  Only the released versions are supported for production machines big_smile.

Yes i know the beta version has a broken GUI... but Thanks for testing!

Are either of you interested in being added to the testing team?
That would give you access to the posts related to the nightly versions!
I would be happy to add you!

Note that donors are always automatically given testing team access... hint, hint...

I don't normally recommend using test packs if you're not on the testing team...
You don't know what they are for or what we're testing.
You also don't know what issue is preventing them from being released.
If they were any good we would have made them a release already.
The fact they are a nightly should warn you they are not fit for use in production machines tongue.

Case in point, you are both reporting already well known issues with versions you should not even be using wink. (technically)
I invited you guys to to try them only for the purpose of letting me know if the IAStor driver is fixed...
The new mass storage pack is specifically designed to be used with the latest version of DriverPacks BASE, a dependency that was noted to the testing team.
I was not positive that the new mass would actually fail with an older DriverPacks BASE version... now i know for certain big_smile.
I did know that some of the things i did would not be used... i did not know that it would completely fail.

So... Yeah i have a lot of work to do to get those final! But...

did it fix the IAStor issue??? that is the main thing i was fishing for here!

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

Since the latest XP release still uses the drivers from January 9, 2009 it won't help I guess.
No need to provide more information since I already said I downloaded it (official release) from the website in november or december last year. I want to use the official release.

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

I also met the same probelm "Line xxxxx of the INF file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid.  Setup cannot continue.....

Line xxxxx just says:  ="sym_hi"

When I use lastest nightly version of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32 and official release verison of DriverBase.

However, it will be no error if I use

1. Both official release version of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32 and DriverBase.
2. Both nightly version of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32 and DriverBase.

I got confused. Just like our Chinese saying: "Negative plus negative will be positive"

Re: intel iastor.sys bsod

True!

I am almost done hashing out the GUI issues with DriverPacks BASE, stay tuned!
