Topic: [SOLVED] Can,t install on ABit AB9 Pro (Intel 965) 0x7B BSOD

Hello!

I can't install Windows XP with all the driverpacks on a Abit AB9Pro (Intel 965) i get a BSOD after the files are copied and the GUI is about to start.

I use all the latest Driverpacks.

I think the problem is the massstoragecontrollers. Intel ICH8R, JMicron JMB36X and Silicon Image Sil 3132.
I have the IDE DVD ROM on the Jmicron controller and a RAID1 on the Intel ICH8R controller. Sil 3132 is not used at all.

This is wrong, driverpacks load the raid driver instead of the sata-link driver. I have posted this issue, but isn't fixed yet.
Maybe there are others driver issue that I don't know. smile

The JMicron issue only exists in text mode setup! And I understood you've installed onto the ICHR8? And THAT resulted in a 0x7B BSOD?

The BSOD comes in text mode setup, it crahes before i get to choose a hardrive to install on. I probably wrote wrong in my first post.
I seem to have the same problems as S3pHiroThC has in this thread http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 87&p=3

Is there any workarounds that i can use to get it to work now?

Here is the setupapi.log. (It from an installation when i used the floppys that came with the motherboard, it's not an unattended installation with DriverPacks.)

But Davvan said he was installing onto the ICH8R controller, while you're installing onto the JMicron controller.

Yes my harddrives are on the Intel ICH8R controller and the DVD-ROM is on the Jmicron controller. The ICH8 have no support for IDE devices.

I strongly doubt this problem can be caused by the JMicron driver. But we can only be 100% sure until you've tested it. Just adding the JMicron AHCI driver resulted in a not working Intel SATA RAID driver, so it's definitely possible.

To try it out right away, comment both JMicron drivers from the [SCSI.Load] section in the txtsetup.sif file.

No luck yet! I commented them out but it didn't help i still get the same bluescreen.

The strange thing is that I have an old unattended CD with massstorage DP 6.03.01, that works on an Asus P5B (Intel 965 ICH8 (not R) and a Jmicron 36x controller. And it also works on a MSI mothet board with Intel965 chipset and a Jmicron controller. BUT it doesn't work on a Abit AB9 Pro (I have tried two diffrent motherboards)

Hello again.

I have now tried it out and it didn't help, still the same BSOD.

BUT I also tried to use a Samsung SATA DVD burner and it WORKED!, the configuration of the computer was the same as all of the other times i have tried and failed. The JMicron controller was enabled in the BIOS but nothing was connected to it.

What conclusions can we draw from this?

If you don't use Jmicron controller, is better to disable it. Only one question, you have connected the samsung sata dvd onto jmicron controller or onto the intel controller?
In bios have you set the intel controller to non-raid mode?

The DVD SATA is in the on intel ich8r controller and so are the 3 hdd's. 2 of them are a raid1 and the third is a spare. The ICH8R controller has 6 sata ports and i'am using 4 of them 3 for hdd's and one for the sata dvd-burner. The Jmicron isn'r used at all.

I tried to install on a MSI P965 NEO-F, and it WORKED. This motherboard uses a Jmicron JM361 controller.

Why doesn't it work with the JMB363 controller???????

This is the setupapi.log from an Asus P5B (intel 965, with JMB363 controller) when I used an old unattended CD with DP Massstorage 6.03.01.

The JMicron 363 is detected as a: Standard-Dual Channel PCI IDE-controller, and it works just fine.

How can i totally remove everything that has to do with Jmicron from the DP Massstorage 6.08 so that the controller is detected as a Standard-Dual Channel PCI IDE-controller just like it does in DP Massstorage 6.03.01?

i repeat. If you doesn't use Jmicron controller, disable it in bios. Is the better solution.

Hi again, I fixed a workaround that works for me. I just removed the line: PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363="jraid" from [HardwareIdsDatabase] in txtsetup.sif.

That makes the JMicron 363 controller to get installed as a Standard-Dual Channel PCI IDE-controller.

I can confirm there is a problem with the latest DP Massstorage on an P965 chipset board with JMicron 363 controller. In my case, the board is an P5B Deluxe and I get the same BSOD right after the textmode drivers are loaded. After following Davvan´s tip to delete the PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363="jraid" line from the HardwareIDsDatabase in textsetup.sif, installation proceeded without a problem. Here´s my HWIDs:

Just a random thing, but I've had no luck getting RIS to work with an ICH8 controller in AHCI mode. It works for ICH7 ok though in AHCI mode. I wonder if there is something odd about the hardware IDs or something. Maybe just me!
