Topic: SoundReq drivers for HP dv5000 Notebook please?

Hi People,
Firstly I should say thanks to everyone who has contributed to the driverpacks and made it what it is.
I sure use it alot and so far it's helped me loads!
thanks gang!

now, now, I have an HP dv5000 with a Connexant HD audio card which unsuccessfully sound driver packs:
DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_911b1
DP_Sound_B_wnt5_x86-32_911b1 have not picked up.
I must mention that I had slipstreamed other such drivers as graphics b and c, (3rd party modem) LAN, WLAN, and mass storage packs.
The hwid's of the laptop after installing the necessary drivers are as follows:

if support for the connexant driver is not yet implemented, the driver can be gotten from the below link:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33443.exe
one more thing...
I noticed that a driver for a modem which is in combination with this audio card is under the audio section on the HP site, if it might help here is the link as well:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33442.exe

I forgot to mention that I had slipstreamed these driverpacks with windows XPSP3 as source which i do believe contains the kb88888 think it is the hd architecture when dealing with high definition devices.

I appoligise for such a long post and I hope that I have provided as much information as possible.
Once again, thanks much for the support that you people give to us and for the driverpacks!
let me know if I can be of any assistance.
cheers!

Hi,
thanks for your time spent on it, it would be excellent if the dp detected the card!

Cheers,

@TheRookie, you driver has been added, is the same than the one posted in:  http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 98&p=3

Hi Major,
Thanks for adding the driver. My appoligies for not knowing that this driver had been requested before in another thread. I assume then that we could expect it in the next nightly build?

Cheers!, and thanks again.

What you put in to it, is what you will get out of it.

Re: SoundReq drivers for HP dv5000 Notebook please?

that is the release candidate... it is preferred to the latest nightly smile wink big_smile

technically you have to be on the testing team to get support for nightlys.
The reason is if you are not on the testing team you cant read the related posts that go with the latest nightly.
Therefore you don't know what we are testing, or what the known issues are, or even what we changed or why.
Not that we are much on rules wink. the nightly server is not some big secret big_smile However, the Testing Team Forum is hidden from the public. It's just risky and definitely for non production machines - Testing Only. It's always better to go with RC (Release Candidates) or finals.
If the nightly were any good then we would make them release candidates - Please consider this for a moment...
The fact that they are nightly means they are either known to be broken, or assumed to be broken big_smile!

It's better because it is almost a final release... much much better !

It's better for us too, that way we know what to put in the next nightly.
If you find an issue we will invite you to try a specific nightly... one to address your issue wink big_smile
The best way to do it is to only use a nightly if you are invited to do so... Or if someone with a similar issue to yours is invited to try a specific nightly, and you tested that pack and reported back to that thread big_smile big_smile big_smile big_smile!
(sometimes when we fix one we break another... its just to much of a risk if you don't know what the nightly is for, or who submitted it - perhaps it's a potential DriverPacks NT5 Packs Team, newbie's first crack at a nightly wink LOL).

We are not boneheads either many times the nightly are just fine, but why risk it?
We Know for a Fact the Released ones are ROCK SOLID!
and RC Versions are tested thousands of times and believed to be just as solid wink.

IE It's a no brainer if you are having issues with a nightly... We already know they are broken wink
( IDK why people think you can just drop some files in a pack and it's done... OMG... We wish!!! )

Have a great day, and thanks for your help - Reporting makes you part of the team too!

Hi overflow,
I appoligise for all this, I have always thought that the nightlies are better than the RC's.
But, I learn and wont make that mistake in future.
I also know that it is a risk trying them out thus apoligise for reporting about the nightlies than the rc's. I don't mind taking risks however.
I do know that it is not as easy as just adding a few files. that is why I respect what you guys  do for us.

cheers, and keep up the good work!

Re: SoundReq drivers for HP dv5000 Notebook please?

If you don't mind taking the risk... Please do, I just want you to be properly cautious!
The team works very hard to ensure RC and finals are as stable as possable.

Do you have the time and machines to test with?
If so perhaps testing team membership is in order...
At least then you would be "in the loop" wink

Thanks for helping us to help you!

Jeff

PS. No apology is necessary, you didn't do anything "bad", just risky.
As long as you are aware of the risks involved, and are prepared to handle them if they arise, then it's all good big_smile

Hi,
I do understand what has been said and acknowledge that I have made my own errors and have learnt from them.

As for time, I do have alot of that.
But for machines... I only have a few to test with.

However, I am more than willing to help where I can if my help could make the slightest difference.

Re: SoundReq drivers for HP dv5000 Notebook please?

I'm sure you will be able to contribute!

Every machine is unique the broader our base of testers the broader our base of hardware, and, the less likely a bug will slip out. It's simply a matter of odds / statistics.

I already know you can provide good details, That you can find files not linked to on the main site, you read the documentation, and your polite!

Adding you was a "No Brainer"

Have an awesome day!
