Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

As I don't know the particulars of ATI drivers, I can tell you now that integration will fail on the nVidia side. You must expand the files while retaining the underscore character for slipstreaming to work in W7.

The following sentence is false.
The preceding sentence is true.

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

expanding is not needed

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

Really? Must be new with RTM...will try it out.

Thanks muiz

EDIT: Still needs expanding. Still reports "The driver package could not be installed" message.

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

works fine here without, sorry m8

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

Once again, if it works for muiz it must work for the rest of the world ...
Sorry but I am doing my own W7 driverpacks now because yours do not work for me ...

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

midiboy,

I posted a batch for this issue on a different topic, if you're interested.

I would appreciate anyone belonging to driverpacks development to maybe investigate why such a fine project is not working for everyone on W7. Don't get me wrong, if dism integration is working for you then I am happy. Good deal. Otherwise, you're not being much help.

For those who have been having trouble with driver injection, it is a known issue that has been widely discussed at TechNet. Although "issue" may be a misnomer, more like a change in fuctionality...as much as it sucks.

See here for an excellent example as referred to by MS Connect:

We are listening...

Good things are on the horizon, fear not... big_smile

Wim, myself, siginet, mr_smartepants, Muiz, and some other well known players are planning to develop a tool collaboratively, even more so than RVMIntegrator / Driverpacks / Autoimage were in the past. (Yes Wim is going to have some time for us again)

Please post your observations (good or bad) here - We're listening intently.

Re: Graphics A x86 9.09

Hi guys,

sorry, I did not want to piss of anyone, I was just a bit annoyed by the fact that numerous people have posted for the last few weeks that drivers have to be expanded in order for dism on Windows 7 to work correctly and muiz still keeps on saying that it works for him so there is no need to change anything.

@Razormoon, thanks for the script, will try it out.
@Overflow: I have just been using the Vista driverpacks available, added the W7 drivers, muiz left out (Ati, Nvidia) and expanded all the compress files. Nothing more so I could post them but there is nothing magic in there ....

As for the future: I don´t know about you, but for me the driverpacks integrator or whatever the tool will be called has to be scriptable otherwise I would keep using DISM. I have made a script that builds all my windows editions, integrates drivers, applications, WPI and creates ISOS or updates the WDS Server. So it would be a step backwards to use a tool that can only be operated manally (like Vista Tool or the Old driverpacks Integrator for Windows XP).

IF that could be arranged that would be fine. In general, I have the feeling that driverpacks development/updates are far to slow to really be very useful. Usually if a new driver comes out, integrating that into a new pack should not take more than 5 minutes (just replace the driver inside, expand the driver files, create a new pack by script, bingo). At least thats what I have been doing with the Vista driverpacks.

At least for the Vista/W7 driverpacks that should be the case. It is probably much more complicated for XP, I know.

If you need any help for things like that I can gladly help out.

Bye,
Alex

ROFL - So should I add you to the NT6 team now?

I agree...
They have diliberately made scripting the process a manageable thing.
That's Good for some one who can script wink.

there will also be an audience for a GUI big_smile
- Sure it is a smaller audience because scripting dism it is not as daunting as what was needed for nt5.

Siginet has always been big on scripts and plugins, DriverPacks has an API mode too..
I'm sure it will be a great alternative to writing scripts... thinking... perhaps it would generate scripts big_smile!
