Topic: I386 Question

Hello everybody (especially OverFlow!). When I slipstream driverpacks, do I need to copy the whole "Windows" directory, as it is written in the FAQ, or just the "I386" folder, to the hard disk drive? In other words, is the latter the only directory that gets modified by BASE, or are there more than this one that get modified?

Thanks!|

Re: I386 Question

i think the base needs also win51 and win51ip files to identify the os version.

Re: I386 Question

only files in the I386 are modified... correct...

files at the root like win51 are used to determine the version... correct

the faq is correct you need to copy the windows directory... even though we don't need all of it to be modified just the files in the I386 we do still need the files in the root for OS ID.

Re: I386 Question

what if the only copied folder is i386, what would then happen?

is the operating system identification really that crucial to the well being of the distro?

curiously,

Re: I386 Question

DriverPacks BASE will refuse to recognize it as a valid source wink

Re: I386 Question

And if you modify driverpacks thereafter, I assume you too need to extract the whole "Windows" folder? This is just as curiosity, but I will for sure test it sooner or later.

Re: I386 Question

you just need to be sure that the SP tag files exist @ Path\I386\..\ Or DriverPacks BASE will report no valid source found.

I belive windows setup will also fail if they are not there wink.

Re: I386 Question

Well, all went seemingly well without having to use any tag files. So after all it would seem the only needed things are the I386 and OEM folders.
