Re: Windows 7 RC1 released
I just finished signing up for and downloading both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I will have to test them out when I get home from work.
Re: Windows 7 RC1 released
have them both running in VirtualBox VMs. I'll probably kleave them there for a week or 10 days before I get 32bit up on real hardware.
Re: Windows 7 RC1 released
Seems as if a newer version of Win 7 (7127) is out as well a preview version of Office 2010 in 32bit and 64 bit versions and it is optimized for Win 7.
My MS rep had not even heard about it !!!

p.s. An interesting web site and lots of links:
http://gizmodo.com/5257386/how-to-insta … ny-netbook
Changes to build 7127 (Credit to EverestUltimate - win7vista.com)
-new memtest for x86 and x64
-changes to migration tools/functions
-changes to hardware compatibility functions
-install.wim changed from 2.115GB to 2.229GB (x86) / 2.772GB to 2.969GB (x64) [most likely drivers added along with changes to system ident/test tools]
-changes to restore functions (rollback.exe and others)
-a few .dll's are now gone
-testplugin.dll added
-changes to system rating score
-lots of little changes but nothing groundbreaking. Most of the changes look to be all about compatibility and adding new products to win7 support

Re: Windows 7 RC1 released
Look like msft is updating the driver preload and trimming out more instrumentation.
Let us know if a direct from MSFT download pops up.
I'm very leery of d/l-ing anything that may have passed through Chinese or Russian hands before it hits a torrent. No offense, but one needs to be aware of where the majority of threats originate.

If you want to download from sources other than MS then pay your $9.95 and join the following as a VIP member:
They test everything on their servers for problems. A great site, all files are clean and a lot of great info.
I will agree, downloading anything from regular torrent sites is asking for trouble. I don't need troubles like that.
I am not advocating piracy in any shape or form, but I believe as do many others that MS leaks their programs to promote interest.
If you have Win 7 installed and working nicely and the limited activation runs out, you are probably going to buy it when it comes out and keep all your settings and programs. Did I mention, all the "leaked" versions are Windows 7 Ultimate which will list for $299.00 if Vista pricing is anything to go by.
Microsoft may be hated by a lot of people, but they sure know how to make money.

Re: Windows 7 RC1 released
It is a shame that people will have to pay more for a decent OS than for a basic PC...
The DriverPacks, the DP_Base program, and Support Forum are FREE!.
