I'd like to clear up some things for myself.
There is a list of my assertions. Some of them are correct, other are wrong, and some are incomplete.
I'll be updating the list (this first post)with correct information as I'll be getting your feedback. If you're a moderator, you can go ahead and correct the information right away.
Driverpack compatibility:
1. Driverpacks for XP x86
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP.
2. Driverpacks for XP x86 (3rd party)
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP.
3. Driverpacks for Vista x86
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
4. Driverpacks for Vista x64
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
5. Driverpacks for Vista x86 (3rd party)
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
6. Driverpacks for Vista x64 (3rd party)
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
7. Driverpacks for Windows 7 x86
Drivers are usable on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
1. It's impossible to install x64 drivers on x86 Windows.
2. XP/Vista/7 x64 accepts x86 drivers.
3. It's impossible to install XP drivers on Vista/7.
4. DriveerPacks don't have any drivers for Windows 98 because they were stripped.
64-bit support:
1. Windows 2000 has few x64 drivers.
2. Windows XP has x64 drivers for basic hardware.
3. Windows Vista has x64 drivers for most new drivers but x86 drivers are still needed for old hardware.
4. Windows 7 has [how much?] x64 drivers.
5. x64 drivers are always superior to x86 drivers when available.
