Hello! I had a look at mass storage driverPack and I find out that it' s full of extremely rare or outdated drivers.
Howerver drivers included are referred to the motherboard chipset, aren' t they?
In order to slim down driverpack can I keep only main chipset manifacturers drivers, as Intel, Via, nForce ecc.... and delete others?
Is it possible?
the mass storage pack is only 5 meg compressed and 32 meg fully expanded and after exceptions and cab compression only has a 9 meg or so footprint on the OS installation...
If you are trying to save space Mass storage is not the place to do it...
It is too important and there is too little gain to make it a worth while task.
Since the cabbed drivers that are used weigh in at like 9 meg, let's say you could cut that in half, you would save about 4 meg... why bother? its a lot of work for a small amount of space to be gained and a HUGE amount of compatability to be lost.
Please remember the goal of DriverPacks is to support ALL hardware... deleting drivers is the antithesis of that.

Please take a look around there is not one aspect of DriverPacks that is not documented here somewhere!

your best bet is to drop DriverPack Graphics C to eliminate older drivers

Yes! yesterday I had a look at FAQ session and it' s not exactly the easiest thing I' ve ever done, but why don' t try?
However I would like to edit mass storage driver pack because I' ve read in some forums that old devices drivers may cause blue screens and some problems, is it true? I have formatted many pc with sata drive and I' ve seen that most popular chipsets are intel, via or nforce ones. So I would like to edit mass storage pack to let it work just with these 3 main manifacturers because I think that deleting outdated device drivers will improve driver pack stability.

well we put all of our final DriverPacks through tough testing before release.
Since we DO have All mass drivers supported and also have no problems reported and we get one millon downloads a week
I sadly must report your source is full of Bologna.
They are totaly solid as presented. ( Or they would still be test packs )
DriverPack MassStorage 901 has been out since January so 16 million users have not had a single issue... look for yourself
Since most of our audience is not the home user most of these downloads represent company deployments. (multiple installs per download)
I am confident in advising you that there will be no stability gain in pruning mass storage.

I guess I should add my 2 cents here.
I have used BartsPE with and without the DriverPack and the load times are slow with the DriverPacks. I am not quite sure whether the DriverPack slows it down, but my feeling is that it does.
Most of the time it has been in conjunction with TrueImage and perhaps the other driverpacks are not need on that disk in particular.
There is a case for restricting the supported list for new hardware, perhaps Vista capable hardware it that would speed up load times, but that is really for the admin himself, not the DriverPacks team

We don't include vista drivers ...
The reason it takes longer is all of the included mass storage drivers will be loaded into RAM...
Whether they are needed or not... this is by MS design.
It is better to wait a minute and know your HDD will be found,
than to have to keep editing and reburning new PE Disks all the time
Remember BartPE is a recovery tool not an OS replacement...
the most important component of a recovery tool is the one that ensures that the HDD's are found
