Topic: - files left in C: drive

Hello,

I have some files left behind on the C: drive. Is this normal?

Re: - files left in C: drive

I conforme this bugy also.

Re: - files left in C: drive

You are using Nightly packs... this is normal and expected.

There will be some stray files when using any nightlies.
Test packs are not for production machines...
Since they are for testing only it does not matter.
In Fact it should be a reminder to you to double check everything worked...

@outbreaker
this is NOT a bug... IT IS BY DESIGN.
It tells us when non testing team members have been using the nightlies for purposes other than testing.
(Donors like dnoiz are automatically on the testing team)
In other words your report has told me you are using files you have not been authorized to access.
and you don't have access to the thread that discusses the details about the test pack(s).
(when you are sneaking cookies out of the jar don't complain about the flavor wink)
IE you can't use the word BUG related to test files if your not on the testing team,
Since you don't have access to the details associated with the nightly packs. wink big_smile

At the same time I do greatly appreciate you taking the time to report your results!
although you did not mention whether or not it worked sad

Do Not Use nightlies for anything except testing...

Re: - files left in C: drive

I use the MassStorage v9.01.R3 because it has the VirtualBox Bug Fix.
And MassStorage v8.05 i can't use because on same new PC's & Laptop's i get a Blue Screen because the drivers are to old sad
I use only the MassStorage & LAN & WLAN Driver Packs the other drivers i can than be download directly from the Internet. smile
I would love to see more final version of this 3 Driver Packs in my option this 3 are the most important Packs.

But don't get me wrong i now that making this Packs is time intensive work i only suggesting it would be a good idee to make this 3 Packs the TOP priority Packs wink

Overflow, the masstorage is 9.01 and this is not a nightly, right?
I got this from the front dp website, not from the nightlies site.

2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack Chipset 812n1!
2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack Graphics A 8121!
2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack LAN 8121!
2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack MassStorage 901!
2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack Sound B 901n1!
2009-01-08 23:23:29 : <INIT> Detected DriverPack WLAN 806!

Chipset & Sound B are nightlies indeed.

Something else, how come I can't start a new topic in "Testing Team"? smile

And the DP's worked fine expect for a LAN card, I reported that in mentioned thread.

r.

Outbreaker the response below is not aimed directly at you.
- You are a good friend of DriverPacks.
- You have stated clearly that you DO appreciate the amount of work involved!
It is aimed at the masses, because we get this type of question a lot!
Thank you for your personal contributions to DriverPacks, and your assistance to the team!

They are the top priority...

Sorry for this rant outbreaker.

Everybody wants to bitch that the packs don't get updated but NO ONE volunteers to update them.
You guys need to thank God that mr_smartepants and JakeLD update them at all.
Seldom are people nice or appreciative and everyone wants to tell us how they think it should be done.
It is REALLY ANNOYING when we get a post 5 minutes after a major driver (like nvidia) is updated.
We already know... It is what we do.  furthermore this type of a post implies,
"Why the heck have you slackers not gotten this in a pack yet! You had better get to work on it now!" .
The most annoying part is nobody wants to step up and help do the work.
(I am always tempted to ask "Well why haven't YOU added it yet!")
Just once i would like to see a post like:
I added this driver to DriverPack name in my local copy and it works, this is what I did...
(actually, I have seen that once or twice wink)
If we had a few posts like that or a few more people willing to do some work it would not take months to do.
you would think that with a million downloads a month that we could find more than two people who are willing to help adding drivers... sad If we had as many people adding drivers as we had asking why they are not updated we could release all the packs weekly.

If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.

To conclude: (regarding how long it takes to release).
- If you have not volunteered to be on the team then sit down and shut up.

PS Outbreaker you have been added to the testing team too, for showing some respect. big_smile
thank you! big_smile

Or just part of the scenery tongue
I think my first post here was something like "Why haven't you updated the DriverPack Graphics A?"
I got slammed that time too.
