Topic: Req 8.12.1 SysPrep - Building a basic understanding

Hello DriversPack!

Quite a number of things have happened recently, and through my needs, I have come across this wonderful resource! Thank you very much.

Now let me get to the grind.

I have been place in charge of creating a universial image to cover many computers in our XP domain, with different HW specs. All are used on an end user basis. I have some understanding of sysprep, and have migrated our company from WinPE over to Bart PE. I have successfully, quite easily, slipped DP to Bart PE, but now I need to work with sysprep.

I have read through the forums here, but have not come across an 'official' guide for DP base 8.12.1 and sysprep. I have read about older versions of DP_Base, but sysprep was not supported then. The information that I have come across using sysprep has not been centralized, and almost a little confusing.

I despirately need guidence, and would appreciate any that is offered.

Ok. Then why would I want to, or what are the advantages of slip streaming driverpacks onto a XP install disk besides never needing to find drivers to do a clean install?

Will XP hold onto the drivers after a clean install for future HW changes to the local system?

It will "hold onto them" if you enable the KTD feature.

However, you could as well create an SAD and have them installed with very few clicks from a DVD, network  or other source.
The advantage of SAD is that you can easily update the drivers with the latest packs so you will always be up to date whereas the KTD drivers will be from when you installed the system - your choice.
