Is this a better/newer driver than the 'generic' Intel GMA driver (rev 5009) that was posted last week?

Not sure, I used DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_8102, DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_810.7z, and  DP_Graphics_C_wnt5_x86-32_8101.7z.
