Topic: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

Hi all love the app eventhough i have had no luck with it for the past 14 hours, i have read almost all error post i could find to fix the issue. heres my problem

SLIP> Extracted DriverPack MassStorage to a temporary working directory.
2008-09-09 21:24:16 : <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStorage: the file "C:\DPs_BASE_805\tmp\DPMtmp\DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini" could not be found!
i have tried all settings to no avail the app creates the tmp folder of \tmp\ and thats as far as it goes.

Now if i launch DP Base application and it creates the \tmp\ dir then i manually creat the \DPMtmp\ and then extract all driver packs to that directory i can by pass this error. But then i am presented with a new problem.
heres my log for the first issue.

Final Note: All Antivirus is disabled along with Spybot RE etc. and i checked the folder properties of the tmp dirs ,the WMCOEM and I386 directories they said Read only so i unchecked that and it showed the progress bar changing the attributes of each dir. and i can create new files in those directories i tested that. but every time i checked the properties they are tagged Read Only but still allow me to create and modify any file in those directories i choose.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

first thin i noticed is the OS version WIN_XP Service Pack 3, v.3282

current version of SP3 is 5512... so I belive your running a beta version of SP3...
if we are lucky you can update to a current version of sp3 and that may cure your issue

a question - have you run chkdsk on the c: drive?

We have seen this issue only once before...

Please read through it and see if we missed any possable cause of this issue

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

While waiting for some feedback. I  took the liberty of transferring the files to my server and tried the steps again. These steps worked on the first attempt, so I assume it is safe to say it was related to my other computer  more than likely a a corrupted OS file system or HDD Partiton.  The Windows Cd i am slip streaming is Windows MCE SP3 2008 OEM
my server copied the files from cd to the hdd for setup and upon the reboot to install OS from the hdd it blue screens. so i may have to find my MCE 2005 and try that on the server. but  as far as program goes works fine on my other 3 desktops.
Thanx for your quick reply..

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

there are known issues with updateding MCE with SP3
- it is not recomended...
last i heard the better method was to slipstream updates to a sp2 source
this avoids several packages being corupted / downgraded in MCE

best of luck and thanks for reporting

now it seems to work on both pc's but i can't seem to create a bootable iso now my original and a few others i created  boot fine and now i get can't boot from CD error 4 and error 5 using ms virtual pc

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

What programme and what ISO engine are you using to create those?

Switching around my help if you experience problems.
Usually, mkisofs should work best.

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

tried ISO Buster, Ultra iso, cheeta DVD, Daemon tools the same processes i used to make a successful bootable image is no longer working only successful method was create iso with ultra iso and now it's not working.
I have enen tried  extracting boot.img from the original cd

Re: DPBase8.05 Error <CRIT> No settings file found for DriverPack MassStor

It's not down to what programm you use to create the ISO but what ISO engine that program is using!
For instance, with nLite, you can switch between different engines.

If you do not need a GUI, you can easily work from the command line using mkisofs (this is also the official MS ISO engine).

RE: Usage of -RWs:
One should always use verification after burn to make sure at least all bytes are readable.
Of course, -RWs can be somewhat tricky if you have a bad combination of medium, burner and reader, but even with -Rs, verify is a must in my book.
