Re: Downgrade to XP on notebook with SATA

.. better than an book ..
The 6th Day

1/ Because of a lots of issues about installation from DVD , I tried to leave DVD and I tried to install XP from USB flash disc . First I tried to use clean XP and than I went crazy and I did slipstream of all your drivers - however without positive result :
0x0000007b , 0xf78de524 , 0x0000034 , 0.00000000 , 0.0000000

2 / I made call with Sony Vaio support (again) and I asked them what I can do with my problem . The result is not good : there is not support fo such problem , there is not update for my BIOS and my HW seems to be OK and there is only one way how to install XP and it is slipstream of AHCI drivers with nlite .  So Im at the beginning again ...

Im affraid in very short time I will need an good psychiatrist  :-)

Re: Downgrade to XP on notebook with SATA

I Had the same problem on my TOSHIBA satellite laptop with vista, while i was downgrading to windows xp ( BSOD code 0x0000007b , 0xf78de524 , 0x0000034 , 0.00000000 , 0.0000000 ) I Set the SATA mode in the bios from ahcpi or to COMPABILTY ... this made it work !!

Re: Downgrade to XP on notebook with SATA

Yes, change BIOS SATA setting from ACHI to IDE / Compatibility usually works, but some motherboards / BIOS don't have switches for this settings. if this can be of any help i'm finding the same problem with HP they refuse to supply drivers for XP, saying some crap about being a old insecure OS... for me DOS is better than Vista!

LONG LIVE THE XP! LONG LIVE THE MINT(LINUX)! LONG LIVE THE DOS!

Re: Downgrade to XP on notebook with SATA

Found your post while trying to solve the same problem.  Go in to BIOS and change SATA inteface something something to compatibility mode.  It worked on mine.  Best of luck.
