Topic: Status of DP Base 8.06?
Is this one now considered 'stable' vs 8.05? I've been using it for a month or so now without problem.

Well technically the next revision of DPBase would be 8.07 since July is the 7th month. If we don't release until Aug, then the version number would be 8.08 (2008/08)
8.06 is still available as a nightly.....
I've been using it for since it was released with no problems that I could track to the BASE.
I think, this complies with the other tester's experiences.
From my PoV it's stable!
lol i think we can safely release it as 8.06 (since that was the last time it was modified)
that might encourage me to release a real 8.07 version with a new feature or two
the only diff between 8.05 and 8.06 is a few language updates I didnt expect any issues
Thanks for the reports...
if i dont put it out before i fall asleep, feel free put it out for me...
Changelog: - 8.06 - See Bug tracker for language updates submitted for base 8.05 and now included
8.06 has been working fine for me since it was a nightly....
maybe before you release it you could implement my bugfix or a similar fix?

That would depend on reproducability, I guess.
I, for one, have been able to successfully install all of the handful installations I tried with 8.06 (maybe ten or so).
After reboot, all files were gone as they are supposed to be.
Therefore, yours is a bug that does not occur every time, hence it's hard to track.
Could even not be BASE-related, who knows.
no...
He is right there is a bug in the code. (haven't seen one of those in a long time )
But there is something odd about it. The finisher deletes the files before the reboot, however, it does place a runonce entry to double check that the D\ did get deleted and if it finds that it was not it then attempts remove it a second time. This happens at the same time as the finisher itself is deleted from runonce.
so to find this bug the finisher must fail to delete the files before the reboot and the backup removal must be needed. Since the error is related to a backup system it would indeed rarely surface, but is still a bug. This make me ponder the 'why' of the primary delete from the finisher failing. that is what relly intrigues me is WHY did the primary system fail that led us to the bug in the backup system?
I think this will probably get added to 8.06 and make it 8.07...

Well, you're the Code Master.
Mine was just a wild, uneducated guess
I confirm that there is a bug but i can not tell you why it appears sometime.
I do a lot of Win XP Pro and Home installation and the bug is on 3 out of ten installationa but sorry i can not tell anything that make sense when it appears.
I shure would appreciate the correction suggested earlyer.
Thanks a lot to all of you guys.
Have a good day.
