Topic: How to use installed XP+DP HDD on any machine?

Hello folks!

Maybe you could help me with my problem:

I have some project to do - replace old win98se with XP on about 50 machines (each with different HW) with no CD-rom present. Every machine is physically on different place.

Than I found some review in PC magazine about driverspacks and I scream out: THAT'S IT!!!

So my plan was:

slipstream all driverspacks to one xp installation with KTD enabled, install it on my home machine, setup xp by my needs, make some image in arconis or similiar and than just clone this image to the mentioned 50 HDDs.
I thought that when I'll plug one of these cloned HDD to any of these 50 machines, it will boot XP proprely with all HW installed already (because of KTD).

Unfortunately it didn't work sad
After I plugged the cloned HDD into the machine with different HW, XP didn't boot but restarts repetitive.

My dream dissapear sad
And I wanted to donate largery after success wink

Does anyone have some tip for me?

Thank in advance!

Re: How to use installed XP+DP HDD on any machine?

this is the path to the dark side Luke...

this method leads to sysprep... which is not directly supported at the moment...

Check out Universal Imaging topic for some tips from other users who are doing what you are attempting.

however you may have some additional luck by changing the HDD controler type to standard IDE before shutting down and imageing. that may at least get you past the dreaded 7B BSOD.

the DriverPacks were intended to be used during installation. there may be support for ris or sysprep in the future.

if you check out the FAQ page there is a sticky about drivers only CD and post install DriverPacks installation
