Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Hi.
Do you realise most people do not even think about monitor settings, let alone that it can have a driver?
Most non-recognised are set to standard 'PnP' monitor.
Duh.

There is an awful lot of CRT screens I never saw the driver for color management/optimal screen refresh rate set.
The ICM or INF file would have made use of the screen more pleasanst on the eye.

Drivers for  monitors. They are essential in my point of view. The downside is that they are hard to find.
Info is at the back of a crt. The driver can be called BA127 for brand AEXsuperscreen17x (both fictitional).
Links to working monitor drivers and all monitors it supports would be bookmarked by me. Believe me.

Wide screen brought other issues.
I set up a puter on a LCD, and when they come home they connect to their thing... AWWW.. I get a call.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Okay, here is what i have done so far,

1) I have modified WINXP cd made it unattended(licence number, location...etc)
2) Slipstreamed SP2
3) Updated WINXP dir with ryanVM update pack(postSP2 updates and hot-fixes)
4) Integrated .NET framework(1.1 and 2)
5) Used DPs_BASE.exe to integrate drivers(without KTD, method2, ATI CCC), DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_80309.7z, and all other driverPacks from the site
6) Made ISO image with CDIMAGE.EXE(M1cr0$0ft internal tool)
7) Then i have installed it on my Asus laptop

and here is the result:
http://dado023.googlepages.com/TroubleS … ugging.zip
in this zip file there are screenshots of what was there when setup(installation of winxp) finished
it seems the ati radeon is recognized, but for some strange reason it isn't installed, like other hardware, by driverpacks

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Sorry we can't be any more help.  It's difficult when I'm not sitting in front of your notebook. hmm
I have a feeling that the Chipset and SMbus drivers need a restart BEFORE the graphics drivers can be loaded.  It seems the PnP enumerator isn't detecting your hardware in the right order.
I have no proof, just a nagging suspicion.

Do you have Driver Signing disabled in the winnt.sif file?  If not, it should be.

Have you tried KTD?  I would recommend extracting the DPGA80...7z file from the OEM folder on your DVD to your desktop.
Go to your Device Manager, select the VGA adapter properties, click the "Update Driver" button.
Point to the D\G\A1 folder and let it detect.  If it gives any errors at all from that point, our DP won't work for you (and I'm sorry).
If it works, then there's something else wrong and I'm at a loss.

i know i am a bit boring, sry for that big_smile

if you meant this, i don't have it in my winnt.sif file
Is it mandatory when using Driverpacks?
maybe that is why i got those problems, is it possible?

DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

It's not normally required, but in your case your system is trying to use unsigned drivers.  XP will kick up a stink if you don't use that text in the winnt.sif.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

tnx for that extra info,

i tried it again with policy set to ignore and KTD(btw: why does KTD process takes so long?) and it worked.

Well it didn't work 100% coz in device manager there was ati redeon xpress 1100 but with EXCMLAMATION MARK(!) on it. So i right clicked and left clicked uninstall and then i clicked "Scan for hardware changes" and it automatically found the drivers and installed them, and now it works, even ATI CCC works(dotnet FX integration worked)

thanks for everything big_smile

if there are interested newbies i can make very simple tutorial how to integrate .NET FRAMEWORK(1.1+2+3+3.5)

KTD leaves the decompressed drivers in a windows\drivers subfolder and tells windows where those drivers are located.

I don't mind learning how to integrate some stuff without using Nlite or RVM.
Shoot. I am all ears.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Glad to know it worked...sort of. neutral
It bugs me you still get the exclamation point.  I'm still willing to bet it's something else interfering with the normal setup.

Edit.
You didn't by chance declare this in your winnt.sif did you?

NO! It's only for Method 1 and will screw up Method 2.

You modified your winnt.sif file AFTER DPbase was run.
Proof:
Yours:

    OemSkipEula=Yes

NoWaitAfterTextMode=1

	NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

You removed the NonDriverSigningPolicy entry after DPbase put it there.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

yes i did, i think, i am not sure anymore.............
Yes you r right, now i am 100% sure i modified winnt.sif file AFTER DPbase was run.
Does it matter?....and why

But  i am not 100% sure i removed NonDriverSigningPolicy entry after DPbase put it there, i am only sure i added DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore when you told me to, in the previous posts.

I am loosing it, maybe i should buy some of that Ginkgo biloba.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

okay, i have done driverpacks method2(KTD), again , over the existing slipstreamed driverpacks, and it doesn't insert "NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" line in the existing winnt.sif, ....weird,

Are you 100% sure DPs_BASE inserts "DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" and "NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" lines in winnt.sif?

cheers

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Hi

the DPsBase testbuild we are testing inserts the two lines, but Base 7.05.2 does not.

You can find a working testbuild on the news page.

The answer was 42?

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Jaak,
thanks for clarification big_smile
well, it isn't difficult for me to insert those two lines, i just wanted to know how it works, i h8 being ignorant, now i know what to do, .....sorry for the fuss i made neutral

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

You should know team members and testers have looked at so many different things they tend to forget what the "old" releases looked like. smile
I often forget that too, but remembered this difference because I recently compared what the old base and the new one did to a source.
( I used to manually add the two lines to winnt.sif and keep a copy of an unslipstreamed source handy.. However, pretty soon you'll find the lines in a source that had no winnt.sif or one that did not have those lines. That's called progress, eh? )

Anyway, You still had your marbles. smile
