I didn't make any changes other than add driverpacks.  I will try your suggestion and report back.  Thank you.

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

I tried enabling QSC and making a new copy of the XP installation as a source and I get the same error.

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

the error indicates that your source files are corrupted. specificlly setup.ex_

that is why i asked you to create a fresh copy of your XP installation disk on your HDD

The disc works fine for a general install.  Not sure why it would come across as corrupted.  It is a volume license version.

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

try this: use your favorite compression tool and see if you can extract it manually from C:\xpSource\i386\setup.ex_

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

I tried to open using winzip and it said it couldn't.  So I used xcopy to recopy the source disc.  After that, I can open the file using winzip.  However, I receive the same error.  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

did you use a clean folder - make sure setup.exe does not exist. only setup.ex_

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

I deleted the whole folder, recopied the source disc, and still get the same error.  I tested with winzip and I can still open the setup.ex_ file no problem.

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

you might be having issues with either windos file protection or with a bad download of driverpacks base

Re: [Solved]-error Could not expand \i386\SETUP.EX_

That seems to have been the case.  I installed driverpacks base on another computer and everything worked fine from there.  Thank you for the help.
