Topic: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

I have a laptop LG with the card graphics nvidia 8400M G, which the drivers have not been installed correctly.
I have tried to install the drivers manually, and they have been installed correctly, So I think the fact it has not been installed automatically is due to the problem of Driver signing although i know it is disabled in the driverpacks
here are the files

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

Your HWID is directly supported by the newest Graphics_A DP in testing.
Can you try this DP and report back please?

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

Ok I will try it unattended.

EDIT 1
Tried and without success, it has been installed but it does not work properly
Please I have a question:
Why with the same drivers which i have tried to install it automatically did not get worked correctly, but it can be installed manually.

I inform you why i think is a problem of the signing drivers:
I have seen in the file setupapi.log that my HWID has been found in C:\D\G\N\1\NV4_go.inf and it has been installed correctly without the signing drivers, so it must work properly so i decided to see an other file.
Then i see in the file setupact.log and i have seen theses lines which i think here is the conflict:
The installation program found that the file system called [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\nv4_disp.dll] has not been properly signed by Microsoft. This file has been restored to the correct version of Microsoft to maintain system stability.
The installation program found that the file system called [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\nv4_mini.sys] has not been properly signed by Microsoft. This file has been restored to the correct version of Microsoft to maintain system stability.

Also i add these images to see that the card graphic has been found but it has a conflict

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

There should not be a problem with driver signing as I did not alter the drivers in anyway.  Hmmmm.
Besides, nvidia doesn't natively support the mobile 8400 (yet) so any drivers loaded onto that system won't have driver signing anyway.

Can you point to the video download for your laptop.  I couldn't find a laptop made by LG.

In the model you must select E500.

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

Well, would anyone please explain me why ths installation depend on the .cat file?
in order to illustarte what i have said above, i have made 2 tests. I have donwloaded the nvidia graphics drivers from the manufacturer LG website, I have repacked them and i have put them instead of the directory of nvidia of the driverpacks graphics A.

First test: include the .cat file
The drivers have been installed well and they have worked well also, without problem

Second test: i delete only the .cat file
The drivers have been installed, but they have not worked, because windows has restored the 2 files non signed mentionned above to the correct version. So it is clearly that it depends on the .cat file
I am sure there is an issue with the signing drivers policy

Thanks

Major wrote:

In your situation, your chipset is NOT natively supported (or covered by the .cat file) by the nvidia reference drivers included in the DP, therefore the drivers will NOT be signed.
Why you are seeing a driver-signing popup is an unusual problem since the DPBase (not the driverpacks themselves) makes the needed changes to your source files to 'ignore' the driver-signing policy.

Are you integrating the DriverPacks by using the DPBase?  Or are you using another method of integration?  Please let us know step-by-step your methods.

Incidentally, I've looked at the drivers you've linked to and they're older then what is included in the DP.

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

hi

the Base log does NOT show integration at all.
your log shows that it saved settings, and then it did cleanup.

an example of what I mean.

2007-10-21 21:09:10 : <SEL>  Selected module: mod_slip_wxp_x86-32_disc_m2.

2007-10-21 21:09:32 : <PREP> Deleted old method 2 related files.

and yours says;

2007-10-18 00:45:33 : <CLNP> Temporary working directory successfully deleted.

The answer was 42?

My method of integration is based on the driverpacks DPBase 7.0.5.2

Incidentally, I've looked at the drivers you've linked to and they're older then what is included in the DP.

I have also downloaded a new driverpacks from laptopvideo2go, and it happens the same, when i delete the .cat file, the drivers don´t work.
I think like i have seen in the file setupact.log that windows has restored the two file "nv4_disp.dll" and "nv4_mini.sys" to the correct version, means that those 2 files existed before the new drivers have been installed and as the new drivers have not been signed, windows check them and restore them, that is why they don´t work.

EDIT1:
I think the solution is not let windows to restore the 2 files mentionned above

Ever since the BartPE (ubcd4win) plugin was introduced, I have seen the QSC lines appear twice IF QSC is turned OFF.
(I think that the recommendation to not use it for method 2 should be dropped, because when it is turned ON for M2 there are few failure reports. And for Method 1, the little bugs become a BIG one, because slipstream fails.)

Oh, before the plugin we had Base 7.04, and I told OverFlow 7.04 already had an issue when QSC was turned OFF and that Base 7.01 has it too.
Some people report missing files if QSC is NOT used.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Yes I have turned off the SQC.
PLease, how can i fix the problem, do you think better we return back to an earlier version which does not include BartPE?
I think there are some files missing which avoid windows to ask us to install the unsigned driver.

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

Hi
well, I simply turn ON QSC.

I just saw you spotted a problem in SOUND forum, and I looked at an excell file only moments ago.
(It's a file with all the HWIDS from SOUND-B in which the duplicates are hilited..)

You will want to see the problem, I guess.
It's a small wonder some drivers still work.

Dupes in same driver have to be filtered out before the excell file is really usable.
However, that is fairly easy
The target OS is one cause for dupes.
Then, for instance, there can be more than one INF file in same same driver, and the folder location/driver version tells us which are appearing more than once for same driver.

After that, it gets to be like REAL work.
If the device is same, OKAY, I think it can be left as is, but...

BUT, I found  several HWID duplicated for analog devices, for C-media and for sigmatel..
If you want the tool to build these Excell files, shoot me an email.

OH, maybe you can turn QSC ON for a test.
If you get no device driver signing problem after that, you could file a bug report.

The answer was 42?

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

I have set QSC to yes but in these lines it appears set to no. it is very strange

2007-10-26 02:03:05 : <INIT> [OptionalSettings]\KTD not specified: default (none) was set.
2007-10-26 02:03:05 : <INIT> [OptionalSettings]\QSC not specified: default (yes) was set.
2007-10-26 02:03:05 : <INIT> [OptionalSettingsOther]\ATI_cpl not specified: default (CCC) was set.
2007-10-26 02:03:05 : <INIT> [OptionalSettings]\KTD default (false) was set.
2007-10-26 02:03:05 : <INIT> [OptionalSettings]\QSC default (no) was set.

EDIT 1:
I have tested turning on the SQC, without success, the drivers have been installed but they have not been worked correctly as windows usually restore the files "nv4_disp.dll, nv4_mini.sys".

Is there any way to know if DSPdsblr.exe has been worked correclty, because i think is the culprit?
Or also it can be an actualization which avoid the function of DSPdsblr.exe?

Re: LG laptop with nvidia 8400M G did not get installed correctly

HI, i think i understand what is really happened. Like i have seen in the file setupact.log that The installation program found that the file system called [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\nv4_disp.dll] has not been properly signed by Microsoft. This file has been restored to the correct version of Microsoft to maintain system stability, so i have searched in the archives cabbed sp2.cab and sp1.cab the files "nv4_disp.dll" "nv4_mini.sys" and they are present, so that is why windows restore the new ones to the older ones when it has found that they are no signed.

My explication: when i install the drivers, they have been installed well even if they are unsigned because the file DSPdsblr.exe avoid the check of the unsigned. But when the installation has finished, DSPdsblr.exe did not work and windows restored the files mentionned above to the older present in the sp2.cab then the conflict.

Any suggest please how can i fix this the problem, to avoid windows to restore the files whith the older ones ?
Thanks very much
