Topic: dell inspiron 1520 integrated webcam driver

this is the last driver i need to complete my install of xp pro over the originally specd vista.

i have tried the r155105 and the r160323 drivers and they both have the error message (at the very end of the install) that this driver does not work with my operating system, even though the drivers explicitly state they are meant for xp, among others.

does anyone have a solution to this before i send the laptop back to dell? arrgh.

i have tried yawcam but that can't detect my webcam.

since you have tried this driver it seems that it may depend on chipset, sound or one of the other drivers - have you installed them all (are you useing driverpacks.net software for the install?)

is your XP pro sp2 with all updates?
Please post in the proper forums (this should be under 3rd party driverpacks)
Please, in the future, include a link to the driver.
please provide your HWID's to request we add your driver to the packs.

Dell is a world class company they will help you. If it were me i would substitute XP Professional for your Vista with Dell. You might have to kick in some cash to upgrate your basic Vista to so you can trade even for XP Pro (this is a legitimate trade allowed for by the Microsoft EULA). They may sell you XP Pro cheap if you ask. (in which case they would send you a restore CD with XP on it.
