Uh, every time I slipstream Driverpacks into my disk my winnt.sif unattended setup file is COMPLETLY changed (it's very irritating to put all of those values back in). The one that I use is already setup with the same values that DriverPacks wants to have in it.
Is this considered a bug or was Driverpacks intended to do this?
This is not just "by design". All changes are crucial changes. And only a couple of entries are touched 
Uh.. No. My entire winnt.sif file is overwritten (not just the lines that DriverPacks needs). The changes are crucial, yes. But they were unnecessary since I already had those values DriverPacks changes in place and correct.
So, your old stuff is getting replaced by DriverPacks BASE's rather than having that added to it?
No strange characters in the SIF (unicode conversion problem)?
What happens if you copy that (hopefully backed-up) previous SIF (with the DriverPacks BASE entries already in as you said) and replace that ill-edited file?
will the DriverPacks work?

I cannot reproduce this.. tried quite a few mays now, and my winnt.sif does not vaporise.

InstallDefaultComponents=YesI have tried replacing it and not replacing it - and if you remember my thread about the T-13 issue I can't get DriverPacks to install at all (it complains of a missing setup file when I try to run finisher at cmdlines.txt). However without the driver packs the winnt.sif file works beautifully - and actually it works with the driver packs too up until it freezes on me.
As you can tell, I'm being driven up the wall.

have you ever started completely fresh with the prepared winnt.sif IN PLACE before you ran Base?
(fresh as in, a new clean copy of the source, put winnt.sif in, then run base)
what I see happening here is this.
the backup in that source does not have the stuff you want.
when Base starts, it first restores the backup.

Yeah I started fresh the first time... When I lost my setup info I was a little confused - because I checked my unattended.txt and it was left alone. That's when I figured out the difference between winnt.sif and unattended.txt
Alrighty, I figured out that when I choose to use a custom finisher instead of RunOnceEx or GUIRunOnce the winnt.sif file was being completly overwritten. When I choose the GUIRunOnce it does add the lines properly.
Huh? RunOnceEx doesn't touch the winnt.sif file at all, IIRC.
I know, Bashrat. However I'm stating that when I select a custom finisher method, the winnt.sif file is completely overwritten (not just having data appended).
i would like to chime in here with Jaak... the log file shows a previous base install was run on your source.
one of teh things base does is back out any changes from a previous slipstream.
IE it overwrites winnt.sif with winnt.org (original) before starting the new slipstream.
as jaak suggested create a "fresh" source and check back.
It also occours to me you could edit winnt.org and see where that takes you.

It happened with a fresh install as well. I did some tests on it to see if it was just me or something, tried reproducing the issue and I used the same source that had already had slipstreaming - that's why the log indicates that the source was already modded.
Doesn't matter anyway, I worked around it.
