I've got a regular Win XP Pro CD. When booting, it doesn't find my notebook's SATA hdd (Western Digital 120GB, and Intel 80821GBM sata controller). Couldn't find any appropriate drivers for it.
Used DriverPack Base to create a slipstreamed CD with the latest MassStorage and ChipSet DriverPacks, all fine, burned the new CD and booted from it. However now Windows Setup STILL doesn't recognize my hdd 
What should I do?
Make sure your SATA controller is supported by the MassStorage pack, slipstream it in Text Mode (improtant!) and post your HWIDs (follow Bâshrat the Sneaky's sing link).
Ok, I didn't have text mode enabled, will try again with that.
Is DriverPacks method 1 OK? Method 2 sounded like it already needs to access the HDD (to put the drivers there), but accessing the HDD is exactly where the drivers are required for in the first place 
Does Finisher method make any difference? (I only need the XP Setup to recognize my Sata HDD to install XP on it, nothing more)
About the HWIDs, I currently can't run anything on that machine (hdd is formatted) so that's not an option I guess?
All I know is:
Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi 1556 Notebook
Harddisk: WDC WD1200BEVS-07LAT0
Intel 945GM chipset
Intel 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller
Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF

Without 'DriverPack MassStorage text mode' enabled, the appropriate changes aren't made, so then it's quite normal that it was not detected! It'll work after you've reslipstreamed the DriverPacks with that option enabled. So I won't need your HWIDs.
I'd recommend method 2 over method 1 whenever method 1 is not absolutely necessary (if you're using very specific deployment methods).

This problem has been reported months ago and then I fixed it by manually adding the file. The file is NOT included in the Intel Chipset drivers releases for some reason.
Now you mention it, I think I've forgotten to copy the file when I made separate directories for each winnt 5 OS (2k, xp and 2k3). I will fix this in the next update. Do you want me to send the file to you so you can fix your problem immediately?
If you have it there at hand, then yes that'd be great. Then I can make the "official" cd to use with this laptop forever.

Rogier, sorry for the extremely late reply! I've been working very hard on the next version of the DriverPacks BASE and totally forgot about this post. It's solved in DriverPack Chipset 6.09.1, which is available right now!

I need urgent help about how to put my Win XP Pro SP2 into my notebook. I have a 120 GB SATA hard drive from Western Digital. So when I try to put a different Windows the setup didn't find any hard disk to install. I read that you can modify the Windows instalation disk so that the setup can detect the hard drive. I already download the DriverPack but I don't to know where can I put it. I made an ISO image from my Windows instalation disk and to manage with this I use WinIso. Someone can tell me how to do it. Please it's urgent. Windows XP home edition it's very unstable comparing with the Pro version, and for the purposes that I use my notebook I need the Pro version. you need driverpack BASE to integrate the mass storage driverpack into a copy of your CDRom
copy CD to folder
run base610 download
copy mass storage download to driverpacks folder in the folder where you let base extract to
I would also get chipsets driverpack, and put that in there as well.
then you can run DPsBase
you have to use TXTmode
make a bootable ISO from that slipstreamed copy
after this, you burn yourself a bootable CD
and it should be able to see the hard disk.

I have the same problem as zac_caz. I`ve recently bought a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop Amilio pi1505 and cannot install Windows Xp Proffesional on it. It came with Home Edition installed, and now as I`m trying to install XP Pro, the setup doesn`t find any hard drive. I have a hard drive from Western Digital called wd1200bevs.
What I`ve tried is:
1. Copying XP Pro distrubution to a folder named CD
2. Extracted DPBase
3. Copied DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_608 and DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_6091 to DriverPacks folder where I let DPBase extract to.
4. Ran the DPBase i mode 2 (is this the text mode). I reffered to the folder CD where the "I386" folder is subfolder.
5. Everything seemed to work fine.
6. I then used WinIso to make a iso of the XP Distrubution from the CD ROM.
7. I deleted i386 folder, document folder, support folder, VALUEADD folder from the image I`d created.
8. I pasted the i386 folder, document folder, support folder and VALUEADD folder from the CD folder into the image
9. I burned an Image with NERO,
10. I tried to install Windows XP Pro with the CD I created.
11. Experienced the same problem and the setup doesn`t still find any hardware.
I would have appreciated any kind of help. I`ve been trying this for 3 days now and it`s pretty confusing.
It might be some silly mistake that I`ve made but I hope you could help me.

but, based on what you write....
I think you missed the OEM folder.

hehe, I jumped straight to last post....
I usually do not make an ISO before burning.
I use NERO burning Rom, and what I do is simple.
copy the sourse
slipstream the copy
get boot image off the source using ISOBUSTER
use nero, tell it where the boot image is
set sectors to 4, NO floppy emulation
drag the slipstreamed source into the compilation
(you can omit valueadd, and the Migration folders in 386 can go too)
burn
live test, if OK, this burn is then used to make an iso of.
when I first make an ISO from a folder, I also use the original boot image which I get off the source.
(because I did some experimental stuff I had to stick to original boot images. you can use RVM or NLite to build a bootable ISO from the slipstreamed source.)
You call that simple?
Al i do is open my existing iso with UltraIso delete everything in it , and drag my new source in it and save as.
Hit the burn button, and our done.
much faster.
And for more faster testing :
In VMware i wait till the last reboot (During the white progress bar), click on "Take Snapshot" (make sure you make a bigger Virtual disk then you normaly do , i use 15gb)
Now if you want to test only programs or anything else exept the windows setup itself, just start the Snapshot.
This way you dont have to wait till the whole setup is finished.

I have not used ultraIso yet..
I have used winimage (which can edit ISO to do what you do), isomaker (whis is quite limited), nlite, and RVM integrator because the better tools could not do over 300 Mb in trial mode..
So, why did I use Isobuster?
One major thing I tried was this MSDN DVD which has Five different OSes on it, and that would not work with the bootloader one finds on the net, or got off an XP pro, or is present in RVM and Nlite.
fwiw, the first specialised bootloader I ever made was for windows 98se.
The next was just a rip from xp pro and this year i did that msdn DVD.
I'll look up where I can get UltraIso... because the ISO making/editing tools I used cannot do that msdn properly.
(which is why i had to first make the DVD, and then make an ISO of it.)
I started using VPC about a month ago. Before that, I had no need for tools that MAKE ISO files.
Use a iso that is already bootable , open that one with ultraIso ,and remove all content.
Drag in your new source and choose "Save As"(Then it will make always a backup of your old iso)
In case your new source is not working you can always put back your backup.
just rename the backup back to .iso
To avoid making all the files read only,mount the backup iso in Daemontools , go to the dvdrom station and copyb the files from there.
Delete the content of your old source folder and paste the content of the backup iso in it, and your back.

I thought DPs_Base won't have problems with read-only files. FAIK, it resets them.
I wonder wether Stoph solved his problem by putting the OEM folder in the ISO...

Hello, I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 1556 Just like Rogier.
I wanna slipstream a new xp because I can t start my pc with the backup cd, I have already
tried with Iso-builder, but I m not sure if I put the good drivers in it.
The pc says that it can't recenoize a hard drive, in the bios I see a hard drive, I have a Sata 120Gb.
I ve read a lil bit on the internet, I m not the only one with this problems.
I m not really good in computers, Iso builder wasn t very difficult, so if someone can tell me how I can do it on a simple way, I ll appreciat that.

the CD that came with the amilo should be capable of booting it, but in your BIOS the boot-order setting may not be set for booting from the CDrom.

I don't know who changed the topic title, but I can tell you that a DriverPacks streamed XP worked on amilo.
(topic started in September/06.. was not replied to because it was solved, and then in April/07 Stoph had not put OEM folder on the CD he burned so it got bumped up.)
I've done three amilo since September, and DriverPacks did fine.
