Topic: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

Can you possibly add proxy authentication to this bit as it will not go & check for updates through an authenticating proxy. I currently go through ISA2000 soon to be ISA 2006.

cheers

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

I've coded the program so that it uses the same proxy as Internet Explorer does, and if that doesn't work for authenticated proxies, then I'm surprised. Are you very sure that doesn't work?

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

defernatley dosent work with ISA 2000. ive been told the later ISA version deal with request differently so it may not be a problem in the future. Basically although its using the IE settings it is not sending the username & password to complete the authentication to then pass through the proxy.

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

Hi Bâshrat
I too would like to add my vote for proxy authentication. smile
We are using Web Marshal 2005, and it does not allow DP Base (or any other program) to connect anonymously.
ALL programs MUST provide user/pass.
Internet Explorer works fine as that is integrated with windows and remembers the Windows login details, so I don't have to provide user credentials each time.
But, I have no way to enter user credentials for your DPBase to connect with...

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

Hi Bâshrat
Yeah, I know that's the way you've done it.
Unfortunately, our Web Marshal proxy rejects any programs that have a setting to "use Internet Explorer proxy settings".
It's not just the DriverPacks update checker that doesn't work for me, there are several other programs I'd really love to work, but alas, our proxy prevents me using them.
The only third party tools I can use through the proxy are ones that let me EXPLICITLY DEFINE a username/password, and then they all seem to work fine.
So if I could do this in the DP Update Checker that would be fantastic! smile

tU

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

Hi Bâshrat,
as the utmost said it needs to send the username & password to the proxy for it to authenticate & let you through. IE uses the logged in credentials to authenticate. using the Proxy settings from IE just gives you your proxy information but not the credentials to pass through.

mark.

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

I'll add this in the next version of the BASE then (7.04.x). But you'll probably have to configure it in the .ini.

I don't mind at all editing the .ini file...

Re: [IMPLEMENTED] Update checker - proxy Support

I think that it's something that my Open source driver update manager idea could provide.

I also suggested michael79 to update its ROSi to support drivers too.
