Topic: Error

I've tried many different options.  They all end up with some sort of an error.  Most prevalent is after decompressing of driver packs (which i believe is the fake setup), the real setup of windows xp won't start.  It returns an error as follows

setup.exe - unable to locate component:  The application has failed to start because Normaliz.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the application might fix this problem

peace

Re: Error

more info -
are you only useing driverpacks alone?
are you useing nLight?
are you useing RVM?
WPI?

What is your source OS - 2000 - XP - 2003?

Exactly which options in DriverPacks did you use to get this result.
m1 or m2, KTD or no,
which base version
which driverpacks version.

may we see your logs
may we see your HWID's

If you want help you need to be specific and provide at least some basic info. (we are not mind readers)

Re: Error

Hey guys and girls... this is gonna be my virgin post on this forum, so be gentle.

I have the same problem with that error from setup.exe saying that the Normaliz.dll is missing. This happen when trying to install windows xp, after the DriverPacks have been uncompressed over to the harddisk (using "method 2").

Im am using, in following order:

nLite 1.4 Beta to
Integrate Service Pack 2, RVMUpdatePack 2.1.11 and some microsoft KBs
Add programs Defender 1.1, Adobe Reader 8.1, UltaVNC 1.0.2, IE 7.0, Java Runtime 6, WMP 11.0.5, Messenger Live 8.1
Add various reg tweaks and create a unattended install.

DriverPack Base 7.05.2 to add following packs:
                  Chipset 7.06
                  CPU 7.04.1
                  Lan 7.06.2
                  MassStorage 7.07.2
                  WLan 7.06
(setting is "Method 2" and default)

nLite 1.4 Beta to create a bootable ISO, unattended winxp cd, which I then mount in VMware (have tried with a real computer as well)

That is basically it. I was not including Driverpacks in the mix before, and it worked fine, without problems, but since both the ide and Driverpacks is so brilliant, I had to try it. But ran into this little problem.

When googling Normaliz.dll alot of text seems to be related to IE7.

Oh well... thats my story.. Now here is the solution:

Copy Normaliz.dll from a working XP installation (located in windows\system32\normaliz.dll) and copy it over to where you keep your "ready-to-make-iso-folder" and place the Normaliz.dll in a new folder architecture that looks like this: $OEM$\$$\System32

So that your finish result might look something like this: C:\[XPCDFOLDER]\$OEM$\$$\System32\Normaliz.dll

What this does it simple: it copies whatever is after the "$$" into where Windows is install on the computer, so the file is no longer missing by windows. Some easy short reading about it on http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/18/

Thats that!!

Good job everyone involved in the DriverPacks projekt! Awsome stuff... would give birth to your children if I was physically able.. Keep up the good work! :)

Re: Error

The DriverPacks BASE does not touch any of those files. So I can't imagine how it can be the cause. But hey, this is Windows, so anything is possible.

Re: Error

hello. i have the same problem. i just tried to add driverpacks to my cutom xp which worked previously.
i added all the packs with the default options.

i tried adding Normaliz.dll to $OEM$\$$\System32 , but the problem remains (file doesnt even get copied)

please help  ... thanks

Re: Error

Welcome to DriverPacks.net solata10,

the $oem$ folders are only copied if oempreinstall is set to yes in winnt.sif...

this problem is an issue created when IE7 is not slipstreamed properly and therefore should not be DP related... but ya never know.

how are you adding IE7?
