Topic: BSOD solution for HighPoint 100/133 ATA RAID (HPT3XX)
With all DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32 version I got a BSOD after first reset when I would like to install Windows XP.
Although the harddisk detection and first file copies worked every time, I couldn't continue the installation after first reset.
At last I found the mistake.
Instead of installing hpt3xx.sys, the DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32 installed the ahpt3xx.sys. So it couldbn't work!
I had to edit the DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini
Original, there stand:
[H-1]
ms_count = 1
ms_1_deviceName = "HighPoint RocketRAID 100/133 ATA RAID (HPT3xx) Controller"
ms_1_tag = "hpt3xx"
ms_1_sysFile = "hpt3xx.sys"
ms_1_hwids = "PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_03,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_04,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0005,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0006"
ms_1_isBusExtender = false
ms_1_exc_replaceIfOS= "w2k3"
[H-1-R]
ms_count = 1
ms_1_deviceName = "HighPoint RocketRAID 1520 S-ATA Controller"
ms_1_tag = "rhpt3xx"
ms_1_sysFile = "hpt3xx.sys"
ms_1_hwids = "PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_100415BD"
ms_1_isBusExtender = false
I changed the sequence to:
[H-1]
ms_count = 1
ms_1_deviceName = "HighPoint RocketRAID 100/133 ATA RAID (HPT3xx) Controller"
ms_1_tag = "hpt3xx"
ms_1_sysFile = "hpt3xx.sys"
ms_1_hwids = "PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_03,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_04,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0005,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0006"
ms_1_isBusExtender = false
ms_1_exc_replaceIfOS= "w2k3"
[AD-1]
ms_count = 1
ms_1_deviceName = "Adaptec ATA RAID 1200A Controller"
ms_1_tag = "ahpt3xx"
ms_1_sysFile = "hpt3xx.sys"
ms_1_hwids = "PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&REV_03,PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&REV_04"
ms_1_isBusExtender = false
[H-1-R]
ms_count = 1
ms_1_deviceName = "HighPoint RocketRAID 1520 S-ATA Controller"
ms_1_tag = "rhpt3xx"
ms_1_sysFile = "hpt3xx.sys"
ms_1_hwids = "PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_100415BD"
ms_1_isBusExtender = false
So first PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_03 is detected and installs the right hpt3xx.sys and NOT the wrong ahpt3xx.sys through PCI\VEN_1103&DEV_0004&REV_03.
I guess there are some more conflicts possible, am I wrong? So the whole . ini should get an rework so that first there are the more detailed hwids and later the more common hwids. Otherwise it would use the first commonly suitable driverfile but not the exact one.
Here is my complete hwids.txt:

Hope, I could help and you could recreate a fully working .ini against the BSOD problem with mass storage.
Kind regards an soo much thanks for your great work.
