Topic: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

Getting the following error:

Failed to CAB compress D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\VX2POEM_EN\I386\dpti2o .sys to D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\VX2POEM_EN\I386\dpti2o .sy_.

Not sure if this is a bug, but the file name should be without the extra space i beleive.

Anything i can do to work around this?

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

Sorry.

I downloaded everything yesterday.
So I am guessing:
BASE is 7.04
DP Chipset is 7.04.1
DP CPU is 7.04.1
DP Graphic A is 7.04
DP Graphic B is 7.04
DP Graphic C is 7.04
DP LAN is 7.04
DP MassStorage is 7.04
DP Sound A is 7.04.1
DP Sound B is 7.04
DP WLAN is 7.04

This information is from the download pages.  How do I confirm that the actual download agrees with the download page?

BASE confirms DriverPacks are up-to-date.

How do I supply the BASE log? copy and paste or sum other method?

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

How much free space is available on D: ?

Can you turn off Quick Stream Cache and be certain to delete the files in the:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\QSC\ folder
This has to be done manually, because removing the cache's contents is not a function of the Base program.
(strange place to install to by the way -  I might have picked c:\driverpacks\ or something,  but...  My Documents?)

In answer to how to post here - please use the code tags  - help with tags here http://forum.driverpacks.net/help.php
It keeps the posts shorter and easier to read!

[ code]This is some code.[ /code]  omit the spaces right after the first brackets in each "tag"

you will get a code box like this

 This is some code.

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

Thank you

D: has 45GB free

I got the same error when the fresh install was done; then I reran and got the above.

Regarding the folder I was just lazy.  The OS was a fresh instal as of last week so the "My Documents" was empty.

I deleted QSC and reran:

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

BTW I am using DP in hopes that it will fix my RIS install issues with nVidia nForce base systems: nForce 410 AMD and nForce 570 AMD.

The install keeps stopping at the "Setup up is starting Windows" message with the HD light on solid.  I have let it sit for as long as 48hours with no progress.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

how much free space on C: ?
I keep asking about space because the full DP set is almost 2 gig uncompressed.

Is D: a mapped network drive?
Does the destination folder contain a dptio file already? is it read only?
DPTI2O.SY_ is a native driver for XP we update. IF for some reason we didnt have the correct permissions to the drive it wouldn't get removed and replaced (IE it's readonly and we're not an admin)

It's probably better to add the driverpacks to a fresh source after a faild slipstream if you didn't.

Noone else has reported this and I was not able to reproduce it here either. try running base with the /debug switch. the log may be to large to post here you can email it to me if so.

I checked the inf and there are no errors or extra spaces that would cause this.

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

C: has 8GB free
C: and D: are one a WD740 split into two partitions System and Data partitions
dpti2o.sys is in the image already, @ D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\VX2POEM_EN\i386, but I do not see any attrib set.
I do not see a DPTI2O.SY_ file in the image @ D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\VX2POEM_EN\i386.
I am still confused about where the extra space is coming from in the error message.
the XP SP2 is from media no slipstreaming was done
I have reloaded the RIS image again from the XP SP2 CD overwritting the previous image, unextraced the BASE to D:\driverpacks, moved the DriverPacks from "My Documents" to the new extracted dir.
I have run DP_Base from this new location

2007-04-22 08:44:22 : <DBG> [90] => Here you can enter the patterns any of the HWIDs of a .inf file of a driver should match before KTD would be applied onto that driver. You should separate the patterns using a semi-colon (;).

An incorrect example:" & @CRLF & "VEN 10DE;USB

Note that KTD will be applied on ALL FILES AND ALL SUBDIRECTORIES of the directory in which ANY .inf with a match was in! This may seem problematic at first sight, but - in general - if there are multiple drivers in one directory (or drivers in one of the subdirectory), then that's because they are necessary or complementary for each other. This means the results would still be as expected!
Also note that you can use the device names (as specified in the .inf files' [HwidsDatabase] section) as a pattern!

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

XP Pro SP2 media is VX2POEM_EN in case this helps

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

I've got the same error... Is there a sollution already?

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

You should NOT slipstream mass storage into a source that was already slipstreamed with another version of Mass storage. Please use a new copy of source.

If you had QSC ON for a previous slipstream, I advise that you remove TXTmode/mass storage folder from QSC folder.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

PS we don't technicaly support RIS
so there may not be a "solution" available...

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

Textmode drivers
...are a veritable nightmare for some reason when it comes to RIS (I could be wrong but it seems that RIS is the common factor)

The only way I've found that successfully resulted in textmode driver integration not resulting with this error...

Failed to CAB compress F:\RIS_build\RIS_Target\I386\dpti2o .sys to F:\RIS_build\RIS_Target\I386\dpti2o .sy_.

... was to remove the files listed here (WinXP only):

Code: Select all
    dpti2o
    adpu160m
    ALIIDE
    mraid35x
    dac2w2k
    dac960nt
    ultra
    ql12160

... from your RISImage/I386 folder

... as this allows the driverpack to successfully replace them with new versions (and not die).

This is info I found on a website somewhere and it worked for me.  I take no credit for it and hope it helps.

Re: dpti2o .sys failed to CAB compress error

Hi jig saw, welcome to DriverPacks.

When the next mass storage comes out (which will be Mass storage 804), and you do a RIS, look for SYMMPI.SYS as well.

For XP
---------
dpti2o
    adpu160m
    ALIIDE
    mraid35x
    dac2w2k
    dac960nt
    ultra
    ql12160
SYMMPI.SYS

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.
