Topic: Do driverpack installs with the KTD option get picked up by sysprep?

So I'm new to Sysprep and my eyes started glazing over at figuring out PCI identifier lines for various hardware and adding them to sysprep.inf.

The driverpacks seem to be a great solution for initial CD installs but but I'm not sure if they factor in to sysprep images?

My process would be -
take XP SP2 disc, add RyanVM hotfixes, add most of the driverpacks, burn my CD
do install on my "base hardware" PC along with my required apps
Run sysprep with a fully automated answer file ( will this catch and use the driverpacks?)
Image it and be ready to go

With sysprep its all about the image that is created of the drive. Driverpacks seems to modify it so that upon install from a CD Windows will find the extra drivers and use them. But in my case I'm doing a image of a hard drive.
If I sysprep it will those drivers be automatically available? I know this is a little out of the purpose of driverpacks but does anyone know how to do it so that future installs based on a image that used the KTD option will also find an use those drivers? Does that make sense?

Thanks Overflow, I was having some problems last night and search was timing out on me. I'll have a look through those threads. I hope I can get this to work, if so I'm definitely donating to this project as it could potentially save me a lot of headache.

You will find a few suggestions to get you started scattered around in different threads
Sorry they are not all together in one spot but as you realized already it's not primarily what driverpacks is designed for.

Fortunately we aren't very strict.    big_smile

@helmi
Maybe we could get all these together in a topic?

try this too

Unfortunately, I cannot merge threads/posts on this forum (not supported by software).

You can create a HOWTO, though, and I'd be glad to stick it big_smile

(or maybe Bâshrat the Sneaky can do something with his Admin powers...)

Nope, I can't merge topics either.

If you already want to work on this, Helmi & OverFlow, I could give you both accounts already at the new site (which is unfinished, but the handbooks part IS finished). Just mail me or reply here if you want to.

Re: Do driverpack installs with the KTD option get picked up by sysprep?

Yes, this is definitely possible. I work at a computer shop and I recently got this working. Using an nLited install CD w/ all the driver packs on it w/ the KTD option and RyanVm's latest update pack. It works awesome and is definitely worth the time to figure it out.

I actually used Virtual PC to create my image. After I had created my ISO (it was too big to burn on a CD because I also have some integrated applications on it) I installed XP. I did some other minor tweaking and when I was happy I sysprepped it and it seems to be working flawlessly. If you have any questions, post them here and I'll do my best to help you out.
