Topic: x86 + x64 SAD DVD for windows 7?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to make a SAD CD/DVD/USB specifically for windows 7 drivers and had a few questions.

Having searched the forums I discovered I needed to create the folder structure using method 1 and for this I used the CPU WIN NT5 driver pack, then manually extract the windows 7 packs to "C:\DriverPacks.net" (or whatever your directory is).

Now I was wondering, when I extract the driver packs, all the drivers are in their respective lettered folders and then inside the "x86" folder.
So for example the Graphics A pack looks like this, "C:\DriverPacks.net\x86\G_A". Is this correct? Or should G_A be one folder up?

Also I was wondering, would it be possible for me to put both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers on one CD/DVD/USB?
Would I just extract the 64-bit drivers to the x64 folder and then I would have both?

Many thanks guys!

Good questions

yes you can put them together, however the dpinst.exe is the 32 bit version. I assume it will work on x64, not tested though... Let me know.

the packs need to be a subfolder of driverpacks.net\D\ IE C:\DriverPacks.net\D\x86\G_A

Any news on this? Will there be a Win 7 SAD tool? I miss being able to just run the script file!

Re: x86 + x64 SAD DVD for windows 7?

Just substtute your NT6 drivers for the windows NT5 drivers in your SAD folder

Bam! SAD for windows 7.

Dpinst.exe (the core component) is win7 compatable.

Re: x86 + x64 SAD DVD for windows 7?

I have a working script already tested working in x86 Win7,  I need to install x64 Win7 in VM to test the script, but it should work fine.  It'll automatically determine the running system OS arch and extract the correct DriverPacks from the right directory.  Very slick.

Seems to work, didn't supervise it too hard, will look closer next time I run it, certainly got further than my last effort with the NT5 Base.

x64 SAD install fails, it needs the 64-bit specific version of DPinst.exe to work properly.
New version now works fine with x64. smile
