Topic: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

The new mass storage pack (10.06 with the text-mode) makes my xp x86 installation process crash with a blue-screen-of-death.
The weird aspect is that the process doesn't crash when searching for the drivers (I mean, just before choosing the installation partition). It crashes after the first reboot - just after searching for peripheral devices - before the T13 silent installations sequence.
The same problem does not occur with the mass storage pack 9.01.
I'm testing all this on a VirtualBox system and the problem comes out just on a SATA configuration. It never occurs if I try to install on a IDE configuration.

DriverPacks Method 2
DriverPacks Finisher Method: GUI Run Once
Installation Platform: "a disc"
Destination OS Platform: wnt5_86-32.
I've checked the MD5 checksum, downloaded two times the pack and all was successfully.

Should I post the bsod?

no, you should read the faq/rules, gather the required information, and post that..........

Re: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

Well, I apologize, but I read just the smart way and didn't found/read these indications...
Anyway, I think it's a similar problem to this thread: Blue Screen with MassStorage v10.06 on Intel ICH8M Chip, so I will wait for the 10.06.1 you're working on.
Thank you for all the great job you're doing!

Re: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

As I am testing my xp release with virtualbox, this is the HWIDs made inside virtualbox. I obviously did this on the system installed using the older 9.01 mass-storage pack, that works without any problem.

My virtualbox configuration is: one Sata controller with the hard disk and one Ide controller for the cd-dvd drive.

Found this old thread (2007): Virtual Box SATA controllerz
I hope this can help... I will try tomorrow if the old solution matches with my problem...

Re: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

I just want to point out that I haven't had this problem in a long time.
But my HWID is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2922&SUBSYS_B0051458&REV_02
Which is an ICH9R SATA controller.  Very different from the one in the first post.

Re: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

Why are you guys still using Matrix Storage Manager v5.5.0.1035 when v8.9.6.1002 is available & Intel have even changed the name and gone with Rapid Storage Technology with v9.6.3.1001 being the most recent?

Edit: actually I just found Intel RST updated to v9.6.4.1001 on Station-Drivers

No official Intel download yet, but the station-drivers v9.6.4.1002 link is here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm
We'll have to keep an eye out for an official link.

IIRC, the older version is kept around because not all chips support the new technology (ICH5 & 6).

Re: BSOD in VirtualBox due to mass storage pack 10.06

Well, I've tried a plethora of things, but no success...
Old thread solution: no changes (predictable);
Various nlited xp installation: no changes;
XP installation sp3: no changes;
XP installation sp2: no changes.
I'm using the lastest virtualbox from oracle, controller sata for the disk, controller ide for the installation cd and I can't say nothing else except 'back to the mass-storage 9.01" and hope the best for the 10.06.1

This is the BSoD code: "STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x81592CA8, 0x81592E1C, 0x805FB02E)"
If I reboot the virtualbox systema and I restart the installation process, comes out a simple blue screen: "STOP: c000021a Unknown Hard Error"
