I have a feeling that NOW it would work, because dpsbase copied stuff to my xp instalattion, but i promisse, I TOUCHED nothing on the config, I just reran with the settings as it was before.
Notice how the txtmode drivers seem to have been updated with the 1st dpsbase run, but the other stuff wasnt done.

This rerun took 5 minutes (this is what it used to take when it worked)

There can be an error on the path to the distributive???

E:\XPCD - it will be more correctly. A path to the windows files must not contain spaces or special characters... or not???

P.S. Sorry for my ENG.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

No problem Sammy, My english is not great either, Im from Brasil.

I guess a short path to windows dir would make things easier, but it should work with any path.
Spaces are allowed on on the path as long as there are quotes (" "), only special characters are not.

Funny thing is, I did not change anything, and dpsbase did not work on the first run, but did work on the second.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

spaces are allowed in the path - all versions of DriverPacks BASE since like mid 2006 wink  (BASE version 6.xx or better)

I think i may know what happened... If you run the update checker it will clear all the pack selections.

IE
You may have run the update checker AFTER you selected which DriverPacks you wanted, but before you slipstreamed, If you did that then all of the DriverPacks were unselected. you hit slipstream and NO packs were then added. (if no packs are selected DriverPacks BASE will perform a removal / uninstall of DriverPacks. So you actually removed the DriverPacks when you belived you were installing. wink tongue - Always check your work. IE if the OEM folder is not there then read your DPs_BASE.log wink.

if you run the update checker then you must return to the packs selection page and reselect the pack you wish to use wink...

always run the update checker either after you are done slipstreaming or before you start making your selections. wink

PS All versions of DriverPacks BASE after 8.12.5 have the update checker page as the second page presented in DriverPacks BASE.
(instead of the second to last page as it is in 8.12.x) This makes it less likely that a user will update after they select.
Although it is still possable to return to any page at any time from the GUI tree on the left)

That makes a lot of sense, and im sure that I did click on the button to check if they were the newest driverpacks, but Im am 100% sure that the clicks next to the driverpacks were still there.

So if this is true, then there really is a bug there that clears the driver packs when you click to check if its updated, BUT the does not clear the checks on the list.

If so, im glad I contributed to making the project better! big_smile YAY!!!

The second run, I also clicked to check updates, but this time, there was an update (to video C) and I clicked to update it.

One thing I learned is how to check my work (check logs).

Thank you Overflow and Smartepants and all people who tried to help me.
I will start from scratch to make sure we nailed the bug.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Well it is not a bug... it is by design.

If you were to update then the last pack would be selected for slipstream and not the most recent...
IE DriverPack Graphics A 8.12 selected for integrations but DriverPack Graphics A 10.3 was downloaded and available
If you visit the update page then all pack selections are cleared...
the module that finds the most recent versions of the packs in the DriverPacks folder clears the pack selections wink
If you look at a DPs_BASE.log you will see that the DPs_BASE.ini is loaded after the list of most recent packs is written to the log wink big_smile.
( you could of course reload your DPs_BASE.ini settings file (including your pack selections) from the start page wink)

that was the whole reason i moved the update page to the front of the list of pages presented to the user. (In all versions post 8.12.x)

In this way the update page appears before the select packs page and "discourages" update checking after the packs are selected. and encourages updating before the packs are selected.

Although it would still be possable to select your packs then go to the update page and "accidentally" clear your selections. Less likely but still possable.

you can test this if you want make all your selections then select the  updatechecker page then return to the settings-DriverPacks page from the GUI tree... You will find all of the selections you made are now gone...

And is it possible to use the program from here

or it is better to use an official 8.12.5 version?

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

I figure if you are bright enough to find the nightlies (Alpha / Beta versions) then you are bright enough to deal with any issues that may arise from using them. But we don't publish that URL in the open forum... Code tags added for you...   Silly boy! wink

Please remember test versions are for testing only...

Never use a test version for a production machine!
- if the nightlies were any good we would have made them an official release big_smile wink tongue!
- the reason they are nightlies and not releases is because they are known to be broken!!! See line above. wink
- The biggest problem with using them is since you are not on the testing team you don't know what is wrong with them / is being tested wink.

PLEASE DO report ANY feedback if you do use test DriverPacks versions AKA the nightlies.
Report both GOOD or BAD results, since it will make DriverPacks better for everyone! It also might get you invited to the team too big_smile.

- DO NOT report on any DriverPacks BASE versions... again if it were any good / working it would have been released wink when i release test versions of DriverPacks BASE i ma looking for very specific feedback on very specific things. I will not even respond to feedback on BASE to a non team member smile.

BE absolutely certain you only use DriverPack MassStorage 10.x with DriverPacks BASE 10.3 or better, otherwise you will completely HOSE your source wink
If you have already made this mistake then your source is wasted, hosed, FUBAR. wink Hint: i always make a backup of my source before i use nLite and before i use DriverPacks BASE, I never work on my original(s), always work on a copy wink

IE run RVMI on source, (C:\XPSP3-RVM) make copy (C:\XPSP3-nLite)
run nLite on copy of source, (C:\XPSP3-nLite) make copy (C:\XPSP3-BASE)
run DriverPacks BASE on copy of source, (C:\XPSP3-BASE)

never work on original, always on copy big_smile...
That way you don't have to start from scratch if something goes wrong...

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Burned the DVD and to my surprise it did not work, there were some progress, but no 100%.

First, luckly, I had a problem with the dvd drive, after the dos part of windows setup, it overheated and stoped working, so when the colorfull part of the setup started, it was like there was no dvd in.

So I got 3 errors saying could not load /oem/bin/7unzip.exe , etc...
and after that, windows instalation asked for the window setup dvd, so I clicked cancel.

I tried just restarting the pc, but got the same errors again.

So I let it cool off for a while, and this time it installed.
BUT, there were no extraction process so I did not get any driverpacks installed, BUT the drivers that windows recognized were installed (different than last tryes, that NO DRIVERS AT ALL were installed).

There is no finisher log file at C:\windows.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

get a new DVD and report back... most windows files are quite small compared to the DriverPacks archives wink
IE the drive may work as long as it does not have to spit out a 100 meg archive wink

they are 20 bucks at newegg big_smile

Its a notebook actually, so the drives are not that cheap or easy to find, specially here in Brasil.
But not to worry, I was just using the notebook because I had to re-format it anyway.

As we speak Im starting from scratch and will test on a 100% working desktop.

Dont go anywhere, stay tuned for more Brasil's next dpsbase xp dvd on driverpacks.net.

It does, but I had a feeling the HD was bad, so I used seatools to check it (its toshiba but I dont know any toshiba software) and guess what ?

Smart has been triped
and after formating still 1 error detected.

As Im writing this, I did exactly how you instructed me.

Created a copy of my xp install named xpsp3-nlite
used nlite on it to add all updates and copied winnt.sif and $oem$ to it

created a copy of that folder named xpsp3-nlite-driverpack
and ran dpbase on it
checked the log and all driverpacks and binaries were copied to oem folder of my install path

Now I will run nlite again to create the iso and finally burn with nero.

To use it on a 100% working desktop.

Ok, just tried the iso on a virtual machine and the drivers were extracted, so Im gonna burn to a dvd-r to install on the desktop.

Thx OverFlow,

this could be the Reason (I'm using Serebys Updatepackt & 3rd Party Driverpacks).
I'll remove the 3rd Party Driverpacks, make another Testdrive and reporting back if this was the reason.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

I used my new build this weekend on 2 pcs.

1- Old desktop PC
2- Sony Vaio not so new

On 1, the installation worked perfectly.
On 2, installation goes well until the first time windows stars. Then I get a BSOD 0x0000007B. Cant go into safe mode, nothing.

Seems like a problem with the hdd controller.
I tried my old driverpack build, and it worked like a charm.

Sorry it took me long to respond, but I only have spare time on the weekend and this weekend was crazy.

can you provide the HWID of the disc controller on the failed unit?

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Its a Sony Vaio NR320AH, Ill check the HWID and return.

But I noticed something,
I installed on a 40gb drive and it worked.
When I tried a 250gb drive I got this problem.

Maybe a sata1/sata2 issue ?

Hi OverFlow,
sorry for reporting lately (my external DVD-Drive was blown up and i had to get a new one...)

Yes I'm using Serebys Updatepack ;-)
- Removing DP_Runtimes allone didn't work, but after removing all my 3rd-Party Driverpacks it's working.

Would be interesting which 3rd Party DP is causing the Problem:

I used these before:
- DP_Runtimes_wnt5_x86-32_912.7z

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

It's not any single pack that does it... at least that is our belief...

there is a maximum size that can be passed to the DevPath registry entry... Depending on who you believe it is either 16k or 64k... if you add enough packs then you will exceed the limit... so it is not a question of which one but rather which ones in combination will pass the limit.

I recommend you use SAD for the 3rd party DriverPack.
Simply create a SAD folder with only the 3rd party DriverPack
(language and run-times should be included with the main slipstream, if you need them).
Call DP_Inst_tool.cmd to install your tpdps
I recommend doing this after the finisher runs for the main packs, but you don't have to.
If you don't call the DP_Inst_Tool after the finisher runs then all the main packs will be checked against the system a second time tongue. this would be time consuming and redundant. no harm done just a waste of time wink.
