Topic: Dell OptiPlex 755 and AHCI

Hello!

I've used DriverPacks to make a "universal" XP SP3 image that has been applied to ~1500 or so PCs with no issues until now. At this point, we have obtained some Dell OptiPlex 755's that have AHCI enabled by default in the BIOS for it's SATA hard drive. With it enabled, I cannot boot the computer with the image applied. It will show the XP logo for about a second, then restart - there's no error or blue screen. If I change the BIOS to ATA, everything's fine. So, it's not critical, but it would be much more convenient if it would work either way.

I built the master image on VMware, ran sysprep /bmsd, ran ROE.exe 937, and then mysysprep.exe /quiet /pnp /mini /reseal before taking the image.

I ran SaveHWIDs.exe on one of them that hasn't yet been rebuilt with my image, and on one that has where I changed the BIOS setting to ATA. If I missed any information that would be useful for troubleshooting, just let me know.

Please take a look around in our universal imaging section of the forum.

the prefered way to add DriverPacks mass storage is with Galapo's OffLine SysPrep. THat should solve your issues.
