Topic: "Failed to compress ...." and "Could not delete temporary working dir"

I have problem with two errors and I need someone with more experience with DriverPack. Your help will be appreciated.
Error 1
Critical Error
Failed to CAB compress H:\XPcd-driverPack\tmp\DriverPacks\DriverPack Graphics C\D\G\AD\atmfraxx.cnt to H:\XPcd-driverPack\QSC\......

I hit "OK" and execution continue.

Then
Error 2
Critical Error
Could not delete temporary working directory.

After I hit "OK" keeps given the same error.
This process takes more than 40 minutes. I am using a 2.4Ghz Xeon with 2GB RAM.

I am using DPs_BASE_8124.exe. Slipstreaming an XP witn SP3 + hotfixes prepared with nLite.
I am including all the drivers packs. (10packs)
I am using method 1, enable KTD, enable QSC.

I repeat the process twice with the same result. I download Graphic pack C for the second run.
I am using Comodo firewall and I disable for the second run.

Thank for your help.

Re: "Failed to compress ...." and "Could not delete temporary working dir"

How much free space do you have on your H: drive?

did you verify the MD5 checksums or file size on your downloads?

Why have you chosen M1 and KTD?

Welcome to DriverPacks. Wonderful details for a first time post!

Re: "Failed to compress ...." and "Could not delete temporary working dir"

Thank you OverFlow for your help.

I have 50GB which I think is adequate.

I did not find MD5 for the driver packs that I am using. I am using the 10 packs that are in the download page.
I did check the size of the files with the overview and are ok. I download the graphics C pack twice in a different computer, the file is ok.

I chose M1 for the recommendations of Jack in this tutorial: http://users.telenet.be/jtdoom/basetute/Eng_tut6b.htm.
He establish "A DVD built from a Method 1 streamed source can be quite useful, though. I timed Setup with M1 and M2 and it was really close. M1 slips can be done to UPGRADE CD sources. M1 slips also make awesome driver repository discs you can use to install drivers after a vanilla install."
I follow the instructions of this tutorial.

I am doing the same process in a different computer now. I began in the new computer with new files. After 7 hours, the process have not finished yet and is working without any problem. I am using Pentium D core 2 with 3.0 Ghz, 2 GB RAM and 100GB free space in that partition. I let you know the results.

Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate your time.

Re: "Failed to compress ...." and "Could not delete temporary working dir"

The results working with the second computer.
The process finish after 9 hours. The only problem is that exceed the 4096 characters for the WINNT.SIF. I understand that the only problem is that some drivers are not going to work. Then I use nLite to make the ISO image. The final ISO  was 1.5 GB. The suggestion is to work with method 2, it isn't?
I give a try to install a Toshiba S300 with this XP and it works very well. The only problem was with the Win Media player 11 which I installed after it finish.

My only concern is the 9 hours. Any ideas about this problem? I though about a virus but Node32 do not find anything.

I really enjoy doing this new slipstream DVD. The work of driverpacks.net is great.
I think I have a problem somewhere but I can not realize where.
I think this DVD with everything integrated is very useful.
Thank you so much to the people of driverspack.net.

Re: "Failed to compress ...." and "Could not delete temporary working dir"

the tutorial is several years old it is more of an outline than anything.
the md5s are on each download page... (get to them from the "overview" page)
auto md5 checks roll out with the new site (coming soon).

M1 is considered obsolete. (yeah you guessed it already)
re: The time utilized it in extracting all the drivers then Cab compressing them.
If you turned QSC = ON then the Cabs are Cached.
You won't then have to wait 9 hours for a Second (or third) slipstream
they would simply be copied from the Quick Stream Cache on successive runs.
The M1 process with the current set of main packs requires

370MB (Packs) + 2.2GB (extracted) + 1G (QSC) [for one set of 10 packs] + 1Gig (destination) =
puts you in the vicinity of 5 gig so I thought I should make sure wink we had at least that much.
That is about 10% of your reported free space tongue

the better approack to this issue is to use the SAD feature of DriverPacks.

By running the DP_Inst_Tool.cmd file from a M2 slipstreamed disk
a local machines Drivers will be automaticaly updated.
and it uses less than 400 MB on lyour disc
instead of over 1 Gig.
DP_Inst_Tool also works with an M1 source

An M2 slipstream takes about 1 minute on your machine (9 min with an aqgressive AV program)
An M1 slipstream takes about the same amount of time on your machine - AFTER the first run -- if QSC is on.

KTD is rarely useful, if at all. If you are adding new hardware just run SAD at that time, using the most recent drivers wink

let us know how your doing - thanks for reporting
