Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

My hero of this month is SamLab, for working out which of the various Nvidia is best choice, and not giving up when things seemed at a standstill.

All properly documented reports have helped, so SamLab was not our only hero.
Krige came aboard. He arrived here, was shown what we are about and probably almost instantly decided DriverPacks was worth his time.

I speak Flemish. It shows in how I write.
I am not a programmer. It shows in how I write.
I am not in IT. It shows in my vespa. wink

EDIT:
note, I mention a standstill.. I do not make packs for fun, and none of us do, I guess. I figured that the DriverPack Graphics A I built was not too bad. BUT it was not good enough and I had to finalise other projects before I went on holidays. While I was away for holidays I could not work on DriverPacks (I logged in from a cybercafe in Spain), and when I came back I found a cartload of things I had to do at home. Couple days ago a capacitor popped in my main machine. I still have a huge backlog of work at home, so I may not be able to do much at DriverPacks for a while. I'll be "Thin on the ground", so to speak, in contrast to the past three months. Surgery on both knees had tied me to home, but they are mending quite well and I expect to be back at the plant in july.  smile

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

My only regret is that SamLab does not use ATI CPL (he removes them), and I think we actually still have no reports that the CCC or CCP work?

I don't blame SamLab for not testing that, because I too used to disable tray CPL after install. (DriverPacks BASE now has choice to not install CPL, and I love that.)
But? Does it work when you want it?

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

I`m not a hero smile I`m works for other users and create better live smile
PS: Yes, I remove ATI CPL, remove different language AND i change structure of folders - after many testing i see: video drivers works better if installing after audio drivers - i change folder D/G/ on the D/V/ - helping me this script: http://slil.ru/25945889 (script deleting languages and CP with changing folder structure)

PS: This week is last time before my road th the sun smile I`m come back 21 july

The 177.41 work great with all cards according to forum @ guru3d - mr_smartepants used the default inf that will only work with certain cards.

Use this instead: http://www.mediafire.com/?keinlz4cz29

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Well, G_A 806G works great on my two platforms. ATI 9600Pro Mobile, and Nvidia 8800GTS 512.

Thanks SamLab, G_B is next on my to-do list.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

16-bit on all PCs with old motherboards of Intel on the 533 bus!

Worked on Windows 8.1 Pro

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

However, newer Intel IGPs will happily run 19x12 at 32 bit.....

Well WTF! sad
What is nvidia trying to pull?

OK, so NONE of their drivers are release worthy?
Sigh...

Article wrote:

UPDATE 06/27/08: Only one day after this article was published, NVIDIA has pulled the Forceware 175.19 driver from its website and re-published the version 175.16 driver.  Benchmark Reviews agrees with their decision, as the Forceware 175.16 worked considerably well in all of our tests.

Which is the most STABLE & RELIABLE under the majority of cards?
175.16 (still listed as current for US english)
175.19 (still listed as current for all other lang)
177.41 (listed as current for newest 200 series cards)

Opinions...

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

At least one of NVs latest driver releases (possibly as many as 6 of them) were improperly tweaked to give false benchmark results on the FutureMark stuff.

FutureMark has publicly spanked NV and has disallowed any benchmark results submitted or published by anyone using the quesionable driver releases.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Works fine on both a GF2MX400 and a Rage128Pro system indicating that at least you didn't break any legacy support with the new pack wink

Hopefully going to try on the HD 3850 AGP soon (a reinstall is desperately needed...)

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Well, I think we'll stick with 175.19 for the time-being.
I'm not sure what's going on with the yellow exclamation point.  I'll have to go through the .inf looking for errors.  In each case, it's a card supported by our third-party .inf.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

If it can help, here is what I found.

I did install the Graphic A 8.06G on an HP DV9308NR laptop with a Geforce GO 6150 and I also got the yellow !
I went to update the driver and reinstall the driver already there over and I had to accept the signing policy.

After a reboot al was ok and no more yellow !

So my conclusion is a problem with that signing plicy from Microsoft.

Is this Nvidia driver in 8.06G WHQL ?

If it is, what is the reason for that request ?

Keep up the good work and big thanks.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Thanks Woody22!
You just answered the question I was just about to ask.
To answer your question, yes, the drivers are WHQL, but that doesn't affect driver signing.
The drivers in 806G are signed ONLY for desktop cards.  Mobile cards are NOT DIGITALLY SIGNED, and in order to use them correctly driver-signing must be disabled in XP.
That's the root cause of the yellow exclamation point in the device manager or the dreaded "Code 10-device cannot start" error.

Now we need to get samlab and krige to retest with driver-signing disabled in the winnt.sif file:

[Unattended]
	DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore
	NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

Where do I find that file? Can I do that with nLite or DriverPacks BASE or do I have to manually edit the file?

Does this operation have some contraindication or side effects?

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

The file can be found in your %XPsource%\i386\winnt.sif
If you use DPBase to integrate the DriverPacks, the file is created and edited for you. smile
If you use an unsupported method to integrate the DriverPacks, you're on your own.  sad
Nlite will make the file for you, but it won't add those entries by default.

This is exactly why we always recommend you integrate DriverPacks LAST, and just before building the ISO.

I have always integrated the DriverPacks last with DPBase. Do I have to add those entries you mentioned to the file created by DPBase?

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

I also always integrate with DP Base and at the end of my integration.
I think that the lines for the signing policy are automatically integrated in the winnt.sif.

How is that bug possible if the signing policy is already disabled bye DP Base ?

Or I missed something, or those lines for the signing policy doesn't work correctly.

If I find something else, I'll be back on it.

Thanks

Hi folks.
I have not been able to look at SamLabs script trickery for folder manipulation.
The link was dead.

I do know that I can not write scrips to do this, but I have been able to manipulate DriverPacks folder layout in the DriverPacks INI after I manipulated folder structure for really really (REALLY) short method 1.

@ Samlab
What is the good in changing G to V? (sound first. Then graphics. I can follow that train of thoughts. BUT.... There are TV and graphics cards, and MODEM with HDaudio. ((Not only sound.))
And I am thinking it is a conflict, not so much a load order. BUT Samlab, you do know what you are doing; and I know that graphics HDMI can cause a yeller. )

also @ samlab.
when you change folder name.. You realise you HAVE to edit the dpg INI, do you?
