Topic: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

Although driver packs WLAN December 2007 updates detected the presence of Broadcom 802.11b/g correctly but didn't get installed properly on Compaq Presario C700 laptop. I have downloaded the correct drivers via ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34152.exe after going through  http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=193378. I shall be thankful if this could be sorted out. Thanks a lot for doing massive project.

I have the same problem... did you find out any solution?

I have problems in installing the wireless card in my new notebook... it seems that after downgrading the OS from Vista to XP-Pro the wireless card has not been recognized... the model details:

Compaq Presario C700T CTO Notebook PC ...

PLEASE help me by supplying the info on the model of the WIRELESS adapter/card and the compatible DRIVER for this particular notebook...

I have DOWNGRADED to XP-pro system (the original OS was Vista Home)...

Thanx

Hi and welcome to DriverPacks.  Actually, YOU need to provide the details of your hardware to us.  We're not clairvoyant.
You can use the HWID utility in my signature.  You'll also need to provide the name of the device (what Vista says it is, or what's listed on the sticker.)

Re: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

Hi,

The problem is that I don't see any 'wireless' adapter in :device manager>network adapter... the only device I see there is a "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC"... I tried with different BroadCom and Intel PRO drivers... without any luck so far... in some cases when I installed some WLAN drivers the system is recognizing a new SM Bus Controller!

The OS originally (preloaded) was Vista Hole Basic... and currently I have removed that and installed XP-Pro SP2... the wireless was working fine in the Vista... but now after Xp installation it is inactive...

Here is the output from HWIDS:

Re: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

Is your wireless adapter turned on?
Sometimes there's a mechanical switch to enable/disable the wireless card (for airports).  I ran into a problem once where the wireless driver refused to load unless the wireless was turned on.

Since it's on the PCI bus, and you've got a PCI bridge, it might be hiding behind the PCI bridge.  Try installing the Intel drivers for your chipset here and see if it shows up.

Re: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

Hi mr_smartepants,

The notebook has a wireless on/off button. when it is on it shows blue light, when off shows amber/orange light. After I installed XP, I tried to turn the switch ON, but it is not turning on (remained in amber/orange state)... originally in Vista... I was able to turn it on or off by pressing the button...

Now, in XP, when I press the button I get a message in HP wireless assistant that the Adapter is Disabled!

Any idea??

Thanx

It may be that you will need to contact the OEM (UG...)

Re: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

there may be a keyboard driver that needs to be loaded as well as the chipset driver.....

Re: [solved] Broadcom 802.11b/g on Compaq presario c700

I just lost a post with the solution in it.
when I look at the driver's HWID and search the first HWID I see we never had this
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4320&SUBSYS_00E70E11

We have the generic PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4320 in WBR1
We do not have &SUBSYS_00E70E11 in before/after pruning.

Suggested solution.
add the driver
add the spotlighted driver output to the exell sheet (or both: before/after)
look for other dupes.
try find out wether generics will clash.
(it looks like this driver is newer than all those that have a generic, and I do not expect a problem when we add the driver.)
We do not have generic PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311

It is quite busy here.. I will be doing some computer rebuilds and so on..
anybody want to put up a testpack?

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.
